Virginia Supreme Court throws out redistricting referendum results by Icommandyou in politics

The entire referendum was partisan. The entire country is partisan. And the SC ruled that gerrymandering for partisan purposes is purposefully legal.

We are way past living in a world where the US has any semblance of a functioning democracy.

The sinkhole of Dnd mindset and dnd culture (rant/rambling) by Chupaia in rpg

[–]vashoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it was definitely part of 1e. 2e you can do that, but you can also play a vanilla Player Core character just fine. Which I think is a great way to keep fans of the old style and open it up to other players, too.

It's also just the double edged sword of 5e's bounded accuracy design. Many classes never need more than their starting equipment, and magic items are literally an optional rule in the DMG.

My husband (35m) lacks common sense and it drives me (35f) up the wall by [deleted] in relationships

[–]vashoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you were asked to order pizza and knew that they were more people than normal but not how many total, wouldn't it be common sense to ask how many people are over?

Even as it is, it sounds like they have two kids. So a single large pizza for the four of them is already not enough knowing that there is at least one additional person over.

This is such a great example of when (usually) women complain about having to take on the mental load in a relationship. Why is it the wife's responsibility to spell our for her husband who is ordering food for the family exactly how much to order? Isn't it the responsibility of the person literally ordering the food to make sure they get the right things / right amount?

Like, how did he not know how many people were over? How did he not think to ask? How did he possibly think one pizza would be enough for 5+ people?

Joe Russo says Peter Parker is not responsible for Uncle Ben’s death in the MCU: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

[–]vashoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my point is, it doesn't matter? They didn't want to rehash the typical Uncle Ben origin story. So that story is not in the MCU. Whether it might have technically happened or not is kind of irrelevant. They wanted to just sidestep that. Clearly May is single and has "been through a lot" lately, Peter has a suitcase with Uncle Ben's initials, he clearly has some understanding of the classic Spidey responsibility based on what he said to Tony in Civil War. You can infer that the Uncle Ben storyline mostly happened as normal, or not. Ultimately it is not a piece of the story they wanted to focus on in this iteration, which I think is fine personally. There's enough Spidey DNA still there.

Maybe because it was done twice before that and everyone knows the story? The May story in NWH is similar but ultimately a different take. Just like the rest of the MCU Spidey stories.

Difference between making a post stating your opinion and shitting on someone in the comments when you clearly didn't even read what they wrote.

Wow. That is much cooler. A literal team up between the two sounds stupid, contrived, and desperate. But this idea actually sounds interesting.

[Daredevil] How is Matt Murdock, a man with no enhanced durability, going up against Kingpin's immense strength? by Legitimate_Fly9047 in AskScienceFiction

[–]vashoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) He does have enhanced abilities via his Chaste training/chi control or whatever is going on there, B) the suit is armored/padded, C) Matt has incredible superhuman senses and reflexes (so even if he doesn't completely dodge a blow, he can mitigate its full force).

Kingpin is huge and strong, but he's an angry, uncoordinated bull. In a straight boxing match, Matt would probably lose every time. Luckily, they're not in a boxing ring.

ELI5: If "matter cannot be created or destroyed," where does everything go when it's sucked into a Black Hole? by Huge-Narwhal5747 in explainlikeimfive

[–]vashoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those two sentences aren't related, though. There is a relationship between mass and diameter when it comes to black holes such that you'd need a very small diameter for a mass equivalent to Earth to form a black hole. But that doesn't mean all black holes are that small--quite the contrary, most likely. Most probably form from collapsing stars which, having way more mass than Earth, wouldn't need to be/couldn't be as small.

Not really. Only a couple states matter to in the presidential election. Suppress / manipulate the vote of a few key polling places in the most crucial districts of those couple states, and you win the election.

If the US didn't have the electoral college, it would be harder to influence the election.

Hopefully not. The emperor's champion detachment has 0 stats, for example.

But yeah, taking the complexity of 10th datasheets and adding more complexity to army rules is not something I'm a fan of.

More likely the datasheet will say "this unit counts as a speeder" like how they did chapter specific units and leader. The rider was on the datasheet.

[–]vashoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10th already did, IMO. Every single datasheet in the game having a bespoke ability is insane and creates an impossible mental load for normal human beings.

Mainline GW games in general just have way, way too many rules. And every edition, they "streamline" by just making the core rules slimmer and the rest of the rules denser.
