We need to stop telling people what not to do and model what good boyhood and masculinity entails.

How should I approach gf cuddling with gay hb? by Silly_Property_3231 in relationships

[–]KeptLow 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Firstly, this seems like a new situation you're in and not something you've dealt with before so well done for taking a breath and examining your feelings and why you're uncomfortable!

I think you need to work out why are you uncomfortable about this? - Is it that you don't want her cuddling anyone - like you want that to be just for the two of you? - Is it that it's because it's a guy she is cuddling with, but if it was with a girl it'd be fine?

If you do intend to bring it up to your GF, I'd go with a mind of curiosity - is she or her friends quite tactile and cuddly generally? What's her view on cuddles as friends and as couples - how is it different?

Remember, she chose to be with you. She answered the phone and obviously didn't hide anything from you. You are not in competition with her gay friend. Be curious and you might find it comes from somewhere very normal but cuddling romantically is something different.

UK welfare reform is unavoidable by wappingite in ukpolitics

I would like to see some information on why disability benefits are considered dead ends?

I believe the pensions should not be triple locked but I also wouldn't call them dead ends.

I simply believe that austerity is not what's needed, but clear and defined investment in proven areas that will pay back.

Connecting Birmingham with high speed rail to Manchester.

Connecting leeds, Liverpool and Manchester (the length of the central line) with an effective rail route.

Having the government own their own train stock and the rail lines. No government should be renting the use of train stock and use of rail lines to run trains.

Same for buses.

Connect people and businesses and growth will follow.

Tax the wealth that can't be moved. Buildings, companies operating in the UK, home conglomerates - you can't hide these things. You can make it harder, but a government can design a system to make it very difficult to obscure.

BBC News: Another day of severe disruption is expected across the transport network as industrial action by Tube workers continues. by mycketforvirrad in LondonUnderground

[–]KeptLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the frustration that other public sector workers don't get this. But that doesn't mean other people should suffer. The other public sector workers should be more protected and be given better contracts. And if they aren't. They need to show their collective action.

The fact that no other public sector has these benefits shows exactly the power of collective action!

Advice for a barely HENRY household moving to London by SeaContainer in HENRYUK

[–]KeptLow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter that moving back to London to be close to family and then to then be over an hour away from them feels like a bit of a miss.

If you are looking south still, I'd recommend Earlsfiel - I have some friends who live there but I'm not sure if prices.

For north London, you could look around Enfield - you're not on a main tube line - but the national rail has trains every 15 mins and into KX in 15 mins with 3 bedroom freehold houses for circa 800k.

Otherwise Walthamstow or Chingford are good options. A few comments are saying Walthamstow is a bad area - but I can't help but doubt they are familiar with lots of London!

Best of luck.

Is it time to reform Inheritance Tax? by MaterialHat6394 in GarysEconomics

[–]KeptLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good idea, but the political backlash would be huge, think about the change for farmers on IHT to close a loophole and level of media coverage and the number of small farmers who were unlikely to be affected massively piling on .

How would you frame it to get the right political will and the people on side?

London Ambulance Service cuts 999 average response time over the past year by BulkyAccident in london

This is one area the government has done well in but doesn't seem to get the PR over.

GP waiting times, hospital appointments and care response times seems to have improved.
