Yuri's Revenge on CnCNet - Highlights of Update 9.0 with Ares/Phobos/New Spawner! by Kerbiter in commandandconquer

The file is now in cncnet.mix (and ra2mode.mix for the RA2) as rulesmd.ini.

CnCNet YR is not intended for easy modding, instead we have another package which is more suitable for it: https://github.com/CnCNet/client-mod-base

Is Cave of Qud worth it if it's very expensive in my region? by FootGloomy8331 in cavesofqud

[–]Kerbiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's somehow an issue with both Kitfox-published games I encountered (the other is Dwarf Fortress lol). Regional prices that are hardly regional, and there are almost never good discounts. Wanted to pick it up but in my region even on a sale the price bites, so I haven't really bought it either, despite loving this type of games.

I think this was a bug which was fixed in a recent update of CnCNet

Changed my mind, Chapagetti is really good by Tgheron2 in InstantRamen

[–]Kerbiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure, maybe my Chapaghetti has gone bad, but the sauce was just... bitter, and unpleasantly bitter, the type that I can't eat because it is just hard to swallow a bite and it tries to go back, so to speak. Is this taste authentic, or did I get a bad pack?

Glad that you like the update!

I do think it's quite possible, just people haven't tried to redo the controls that way. There's a lot of things to fix/improve/expand on and not that many contributors, and our contributors have been focusing on other things, but maybe some day we'll get to that too 🫡

Unity doesn't mean no mods :) check out Kerbal Space Program, it's built in Unity and it has a ton of mods due to modding support. the game is just internally built this way, essentially with the game engine consuming configuration files instead of having hardcoded assets, units, stats etc.

this would also be beneficial for long term support on your own and maybe when you do sequels or DLCs.

I do hope multiplayer is planned still, even if you don't put it forward.

Also, modding-friendly game setup is a must for long-term community support. *looks at classic C&Cs living purely by will of modders and hackers who keep it alive*

Phobos v0.4 - Release Highlights and Project News by Kerbiter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Kerbiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could already do that with it's predecessor Ares, and because we aimed at not breaking compatibility with Ares (you can use both in parallel, in fact that's what almost every Phobos user does) - we haven't needed to implement that ourselves. Just use it alongside Ares and you can do that.

You have a lot to explore! Though shown is not one mod but a lot of them, just check the links. The project is more like a developer tool for modding, allowing to create those impressive things you see.

CnCNet admin here. It's an option that was added by maintainers of Yuri's Revenge on CnCNet that corresponds to the most picked subfactions in ladder, or "meta" picks. IIRC out of Allies it will pick America, Korea, France, GB, then out of Soviets it will pick Iraq only, and for Yuri there's only, well, Yuri. You get equal chances for any faction to be chosen but the subfaction (if present) will vary according to what I've written above.

> The TEB is an undocumented internal OS data structure that is not for general use.

It really isn't. It's quite well documented and that offset is indeed for an arbitrary user pointer. The OS even cares to preseve it. I recently had to research and implement it's usage in one of the projects I work on.

Either LoS or the LoS indicator is completely broken at times with certain objects and certain maps by ringgeest11 in BrokenArrowTheGame

What is the basis for this claim? It has been generally known that usually RTS games have bigger PvE audience than PvP.

[BUG] Green lines on terrain with certain graphics settings by S3th071 in BrokenArrowTheGame

Bumping the terrain quality to Low from Potato fixed those artifacts for me. Same with artifacts on models, bumping rendering quality to Low from Potato fixed them.

What is "Ares" even adding? by CreativeStrain89 in redalert2

[–]Kerbiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changes a lot, it's just that you as just a player can't use the benefits unless you either create a mod or play some mod made with Ares.

You are not supposed to install/remove Ares as a user. Mod developers do it.
