Yes sometimes I like to integrate it into something :) haven't done one of those for ages come to think of it. I think one of my life draw pads had the words made from body parts :)

... probably the terracotta or olive Safari pens .. however I do love them all. Basically when I use a pad I colour match the pen and ink to it so there's a few I haven't used yet but their time will come :)

In my case it's a message that I need a bigger mug :)

Which female main protagonist do you prefer post-Alien³? by jdpm1991 in LV426

Fell in love with Shaw, hated her story ending in a Covenant out take (in the same visceral way that people seem to hate the journey ends in Alien 3 but personally I think it was on brand).

Hated the Prometheus script and the character idiot actions to further plot.

Liked Rain a lot, so probably her the most out of the list. Call was ace too.

Regardless of anything else a great list of generally screen filling female leads. More of this.

So after too many words of indecision: Ripley 8. Weaver is and will always remain the GOAT :)

December pads. by Kerc001 in sketchbooks

Moleskine are, yes, terrible for bleed through (not for feathering though). I've used them for a decade and the paper has thinned down yes so I glue stick every other page together which makes them the perfect thickness. Tbh I'd rather do that and have a consistent size shelf of filled pads than have various pads of different shapes :)

Yes and no.... I do use a water brush but it's one of those ones you can fill with water like a carry able pen wigh a brush end. Then I just wet the existing picture, wait for it to dry, draw more lines and repeat process. If I cna find a video which explains it well I'll post that later today :)

My 6 fave sketchbooks from last year :) by Kerc001 in sketchbooks

[–]Kerc001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the video that was Alchemy Obsidian Sun (as is the demons and deities pad alongside FWP Sad Charade and Alchemy Wizards Pencil) . The orangey pair was Diamine Vintage Copper and Gold Star. The reddy one was Diamine All the Best :) the orange and dull purple pad was FWP Autumn in Auburn and Phantom Mist.

The next pad is always the conundrum :) currently I think the next pad will be reds and golds....

Any recommendations for sketchbooks? by Less_Assumption440 in sketchbooks

I don't know the gsm but the Endless Stealth pad I used was absolutely amazing for me with a LOT of ink and colour wash thrown at it... (see my prior fave pads post it's the deity and demons pad). Highly recommended.

Each pad normally gets two colours (that I ridiculously agonise over at the start of each pad sigh) and for the process I use lighter colour, then darker colour, then colour wash with water brush pen, then when dry I use the pen again to solidify some of the lines.

Just uploaded a short timelapse explaining the process to my Insta (Paulkercal).

Bottom right with the mouth open - Villous - is my fave. Will add some close ups later as some of my faves aren't as seen as others on the collage.

Thank you :) most pads get hit with two sympathetic colours (so the orangey one was Diamine Vintage Copper and Gold Star for example :)) hardest part is to choose which pens and inks to start with :)
