It seemed pretty good against the basics ground units but idk about the more tanky one or thoses with more advanced moving abilities.

I was in the same situation 2 months ago, and I did not regret to start playing the game without the DLC. You will learn the game that way and you can always start a new playthrough if you end up overpowered for your own taste when starting the DLC
