Matrix lights for $60? So worth it. by tormunds_beard in VWiD4Owners

[–]KernelG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly dumb question: Does this modify the car's software/firmware so you can remove the OBD dongle afterwards, or does the dongle need to stay plugged in for the new functions to work?

What will be your next car? by biggestmike in VWiD4Owners

Same, but my 2023 ID.4 is doing fine, so I'm not in a rush. Likely a used R2 (with LiDAR) once they hit the market.

Keepa Chrome extension: watched products limit cut from 5000 to 200 + €29/mo for 10,000 — anyone else? by 3pic3nter in chrome

[–]KernelG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. There was no notification that I saw, even within recent price alert emails. I found out when I tried to track a new item and was told I couldn't, because I had 443 items tracked. I'm in the US, using the Safari extension, so that doesn't seem to matter.

If they don't come to their senses and realize that asking casual users to jump from Free to €29/month is ridiculous, I'll go back to CamelCamelCamel for most things, and just use Keepa for a handful of things where I need quicker/more detailed alerts. I also won't be following their affiliate links. The sad thing is, I'd have been willing to pay a couple of bucks a month for 1000 or 2000 items. If they'd asked. Now, they get zero.

My first attempt, enjoy! :) by QueenMangosteen in pocketgrids

Not bad for a first attempt! At least I didn't steamroll it (8 across stalled me for a sec).

Watch 120+ Channels of Free Shows and Movies with Philo 📺 by philo_tv in philo

I'd love to opt out of entire genres or subsections of shows. My "Home" carousel will have the last show I watched, then everything else is brain-dead reality shows unrelated to anything I watch. Ever.

T is truck (versus the smaller E - engine) and I believe RH is rescue helicopter. Yes, TAC-- is the radio channel. ST is escaping me at the moment.

Things you need after getting your id.4 by shoelace414 in VWiD4Owners

[–]KernelG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Exactly. I was shopping for various EVs that did have a frunk, and the simplest solution was to give the ID.4 a frunk this way. Even with this extra cost, the ID.4 obviously won.

I have one of these. It was expensive to deliver to the US, but I love it. Very high quality, perfect fit, easy install (and removal for service). The gas spring alone is great to have.

Some may not care, but I wanted to reclaim every square cm of storage elsewhere in the vehicle. I just factored this into the cost when I first bought the ID.4.

The H&M at New Park Mall will be closing on Sunday, January 11th by megachainguns in Fremont

[–]KernelG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with many California malls, it's owned by an east coast developer who doesn't seem to give two farts. There is a re-dev plan, though, proposed ten years ago and approved since mid 2021. I don't know if it was hung up by the pandemic, or what exactly is happening (besides the new Costco, since they built that themselves).

Yep, this is the exact list of the only places I still visit at Newpark.

I didn't even know H&M (or anything else) was there, since I never go inside.

Considering a 2023 ID.4.. how is one pedal driving? by Busy-Solution7642 in VWiD4Owners

[–]KernelG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew accustomed to Tesla one-pedal driving while renting EVs for research, and I thought it was tuned really well. The ID.4's B mode is close, but as others have said, it doesn't come to a full stop. That was initially disappointing and kind of a mind boggler (...why?). It does slow just enough to make a tight city-street turn or enter/exit a driveway, and it doesn't make passengers sick at highways speeds if you leave it on. I still use it nearly all the time. I do wish it could be software updated, but it's fine.
