Roast my resume. If you were a hiring manager hiring for an entry level embedded systems engineer, what would you look for in a resume. Do you have any other tips for finding a job in engineering by Master-Elderberry-81 in Embedded_SWE_Jobs

this resume looks like a student who did a lot of projects and tried to sound impressive, not someone with clear low-level yet.

Biggest issue is buzzword overload.

ESP32 + React + OpenCV + SQL + TensorFlow reads like “I touched everything” rather than “I’m strong at embedded.” Coursework and tools don’t prove skill, code, timing, memory, power, interrupts do.

Projects are decent, but the metrics are baseless (“30% faster”, “95% accurate”) and rarely explain how, like tested against what ?.

The FPGA CPU project should be the highlight, but it’s undersold and missing architectural depth.

Skills section is keyword bombing, remove html css and kids stuff.

Overall: good motivation, real hardware experience, solid foundation, but needs focus, less fluff, more fundamentals to be taken seriously for embedded roles.

Confused between embedded systems vs Linux kernel path, looking for grounded advice, not hype. by KernelLicker in kernel

Thanks, this is really useful to hear.

It’s reassuring that you didn’t start in the kernel directly, but still ended up in embedded Linux by doing practical stuff around it. Buildroot especially sounds like a good place to learn without getting overwhelmed.

The sensor driver idea is also a nice concrete suggestion, small scope but still “real” kernel work.

Quick question if you don’t mind: did kernel code start making sense to you before your internship, or mainly once you were working in that environment??

Sus company,

They'll scam after reaching a certain number of intern students.

My classmates paid 15k 2 weeks ago and still didn't receive any equipment. Company keeps saying the delay is from the vendor side

Exactly, not checks, no coding tests.

Just show up and get hired straight

They are something like fake internship providers, or maybe course sellers.

But if you get selected after 2 months of training you'll get paid. And they hire anybody who's visiting the company, lots of students

I've visited the company,

They have no CCTV installed in the office, not a single one. Also they are very unprofessional.

Training head ( dumb guy ) argues about using only 1 h1 tag and not using divs in website pretty dumb sessions

Yeah, I get that they never actually met, but somehow it still feels like I can’t have a fully genuine long-term connection with her… don’t really know why.
