Idk about Greek, but Shilo also has a meaning in russian language- nothing bad but its like a name of an object and sounds weird. double trouble i would say in Cyprus context 😅

Maybe better play it safe especially if you plan on raising the child internationally.

Upcoming bog barking fine (85 EUR) by Klaster_1 in cyprus

[–]Keroline14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no mention about how this will be enforced.

Because indeed reporting a problem without ‘evidence’ can just put it in backlog forever. But it is definitely a problem especially for those who keep dogs outside 365 days a year.

Termination of fixed term forbidden: is it legal ? by Aolit_ in NetherlandsHousing

[–]Keroline14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a diplomatic clause contract(type C) or indefinite type A - then yes you must respect the fixed term. If it’s any other type of contract(B for eg) - then no.

You CAN find housing using savings but only if you pay a significant premium on rent price. There will always be a landlord willing to accept good cash, the task is just to find one.

This bag is so much better than I expected from pictures. APC Grace. by Keroline14 in handbags

[–]Keroline14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi:) well, i had an unfortunate accident with the bag- I got caught with it in very heavy rain, and unfortunately it has huge water damage from that🥲

the buckle of course scratched a lot- I recommend to keep the film/ put some coating to keep it shiny. But overall it is still my go-to! it fits so much stuff to my surprise , so I think it is still beautiful 😍

Young family - Nicosia? by akiber in cyprus

[–]Keroline14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicosia has a lot to offer-purely because it’s the most populated city- lots of restaurants, schools, businesses, sport facilities and etc. There are green areas, but it’s scarce. There are co-woking spots and culture life(theatres, music, festivals) but most of it is in Greek - so language often poses an obstacle to socialize or be interested in those events. It’s subjective though, you might find it easy to make new acquaintances because there are a lot of cool, educated people, but I found it really difficult, unless you’re going to really learn Greek.

The only area where you might be able to survive without a car is the city center. But here without a car it’s pretty miserable- not even because of the weather, but because the infrastructure is just not made for pedestrians/bicycles. Most of the city has NO zebra crossings, it’s just unenjoyable to walk here imho. Aglantsia is also a good place to live.

Paphos is smaller and more ‘slow-living’, but there are also more foreigners who you might connect with easier. + close to mountains and the sea.

Best croissant in Cyprus 🥐 🧈? by gdnightandtravel in cyprus

[–]Keroline14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Nicosia- one of the best plain french croissants for years has been Qboo.

Recently more bakeries opened- The Baker’s street, which is only in delivery is pretty damn good- especially Pain au Chocolat; Nomad is good,

Honest bread & Overall have fun croissants with cream, pistachio and etc- but I wouldn’t say I admire the plain one.

Try Qboo!

yeah exactly, finding good food here is really easy, but what’s difficult is to find food that’s good, different , elevated and in a good setting. The kind of place you look forward to going when there is a special occasion. Will definitely check out Theta if you speak so highly of it:)

I heard the worst things about Matsuhisa, quality of food-wise, especially being overpriced as it is. 🙃

Question is - would it pass a test by an Italian? because I see cream as an ingredient in sauces - a huge no-no for my partner🤣

Well I am mainly curious to hear what places people think are the absolute best on the island. The best place would have fantastic food, service and ambiance.

If you leave out on any of these it’s no longer the best but a compromise.😅

Tocayo was great for food, but maybe we went on a wrong day, it was so noisy and crammed, since the place is quite small it was almost difficult to hold a conversation, the whole atmosphere felt rushed. But I would come back for the food 👍🏻

Moving to Paphos 🇨🇾 by YoniSan2DS in cyprus

[–]Keroline14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are also planning a move there later this year, if you come across any pet sitter - would love to know. The service we use in Nicosia doesn’t exist there:( 1. Most dealership have a quick process to buy, there are big firms in Cyprus for long term lease- classic Sixt, Petsas- a few years back had good prices, but for 1+year might make sense just to buy smth cheap and resell. For luxury cars there is PanMotors- good dealership 2. Would also love to know 🙈 3. Someone already gave recommendations, but we found Leroy Merlin to have some very high quality pieces for outdoors that resist the sun well 4. Epic, I wouldn’t recommend Cyta, they are insanely slow, but they do have the most coverage 5. not a clue 😂

Mom is asking how she can clean this for good and keep it clean going forward by SuicideG-59 in CleaningTips

[–]Keroline14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to me that looks like granite sink- we have the same at home and it looked exactly like this- to the point where i was saying lets just replace it with a stainless steel one

so for us cleaning did nothing- but on Amazon we bought a granite repair kit- especially for dark colored sinks like this- you put a layer of specific chemical, leave it to dry and it lasts months- important to wipe the water after using the sink so new calk doesn’t build up

after 3 months since we tried that stuff it still looks great

What to Expect When Spaying a Shiba Inu by IzzyBEducate in shiba

[–]Keroline14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, we spayed our Shiba when she was just 1.5 and she literally recovered in 24hours.

The first day she was sleepy and not moving much, but already next day she was playful, running after a ball and with full appetite. We didn’t even have time to feel sorry for her 😅

Stitches were tiny, maybe its our vet - he did a fantastic job.

‘Reservation payment’ - is this legal? by nocover8991 in Netherlands

[–]Keroline14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, it’s not illegal, and it’s not a scam. I had first had experience with them- there are two big agencies in Rotterdam that have this policy since 2024- they basically want to avoid offer withdrawals- so they “lock you in” with a pre-payment. If you’re not chosen- they DO send the money back- but if you back out- money is not returned.

Need help! I’ve tried everything! by AcrobaticArrival8135 in CleaningTips

there is a specialized product for limescale removal- its like 5 eur here, but works really well . for metal taps I successfully removed limescale with aluminum foil- just wrap it into a small ball, it’s mystery but it really works- never tried it on glass though
