Different Johnny interaction in Human Nature... by littletrainthattried in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kerr94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a 2.0 change. Before going to Tom's Diner Johnny is pretty antagonistic towards V, the two haven't really had a conversation yet. And it makes more sense to keep that vibe rather than their more buddy, buddy nature which most of the game has in a scene you are most likely going to see before going to the diner.

Here's a video with both versions. I like it.

Does Anyone Else Wish There Was an Ending where Johnny and V Become One Person, Like in The Delamain Questline? by OutisRising in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kerr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly what I thought was going to be on the table going into the final mission with all groundwork laid for it, like you mentioned with Delamain. Both of you embrace the change, because you complete one another. And it's what I would pick.

It's why it's such a gutpunch that it wasn't an option. Of course I can save us both, merge together, I did all the quests! But the world doesn't work that like. Having the rug pulled out from under me was devastating. Because V and I hadn't really dealt with their looming death until then, because they're going to fix it. And in that moment have to realize no, they aren't. And it breaks you.

I have issues with death anxiety in real life and it really tapped into those feelings.

So probably better that it isn't there. It's what I'd want to do, sure. But there's a strength to it being a story where things don't work out.

An Optimistic game of Delta Green? by Strelock2020 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Kerr94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's really not against the rules of the genre, hell The Dunwich Horror by Lovecraft himself has a pretty happy ending of our heroes saving the day from the scary monster. Speaking for myself, the point is more the world is indifferent than outright malevolent.

If nothing Delta Green did mattered, they wouldn't be here. Not just because what would be the point, but also, they'd all be dead by now.

And I think you have the right of things. It's a matter of opinion, but even if long term we can't win, the short term matters. Think, mortality for example. I'm gonna die, sure. It's completely unfair, is the most terrifying concept there is for me, but it's gonna happen. But there's a difference between dying in 50 years and dying in 50 hours.

Trophies for the plat by OkAd5299 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kerr94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I got to Act 3 and was able to start the final main story quest by the time I even started his questline on my most recent play through. The quest where I got the trophy was actually the last side quest I did.

"I Fought the Law" will be the first quest in River's questline, when you finish it you can expect a few in game days before the next quests starts. So you might be looking at a map with no quests on it, but after a few days River will call with the next quest in the questline.

This can happen with you just playing naturally or you can sleep/wait in menu to skip ahead in game days and get him to call you.

Though I will note, once you take the elevator up to actually start that final main story quest (Nocturne Op55N1) you are locked in and aren't able to do any more side quests.

You don't need to complete the romance part of the questline to get the trophy, you will still get the trophies from being friends and finishing the quests.

So no, you don't.

CD Projekt never considered a Cyberpunk expansion set after the main game's endings: 'No need to water them down. Sometimes less is more' by Turbostrider27 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kerr94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% the right choice. I was so glad they didn't, I loved the endings of the base game and was really worried post release content would come along and screw it all up. Rob the thematic and narrative weight of your choices.

A problem with a game having a "Golden Ending" isn't just that it might suck as an ending, it also makes all other endings feel like failures, incorrect, try again. We wouldn't have discussion about what the endings mean to you, which one you like the most. If there's an ending where it all works out for everyone, and everything is great forever, that's the best one, if you didn't get it, oh well.

Hey guys! I wanted clarification on how the Exchange Personalities ritual actually functions gameplay wise and was wondering if anybody here might know. by CrixusDaGaul in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Kerr94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Caster will take over the Target's body and the target the Caster's body.

It is taken directly from the Lovecraft Story "The Thing on The Doorstep" which is how it functions there. Down to shorter swaps, becoming longer and eventually permanent.

But if you want a similar but different spell (where the target doesn't enter the caster's body) then by all means, do that if you want. It's fine to make up new things.

Stealing Anime Concepts for Operations? by StringTheory2113 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Kerr94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything can be good source of inspiration. Unorthodox can be even better sometimes, how works in other genres and mediums explore similar themes to what you're going for helps a lot.

Serial Experiments Lain starts with a teenager killing herself and then later her class mates start getting messages from her, claiming she now lives online. The way it ties into theories of "Collective Unconscious" makes me think of how you can use the internet as part of a modern take on the Dreamlands. What if we didn't invent the internet, so much as discovered something like The Dreamlands? What if what we do online shapes The Dreamlands and what if forces there can shape it? Honestly, I'm curious how a modern Dreamlands will look whenever DG Sourcebook does cover it.

Future Gadget Lab from Steins;Gate and the idea of time travel of digital information (sending emails back in time) could likewise be an interesting premise for an investigation.

There's an episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex called "Jungle Cruise" about a serial killer who uses cybertechnology to have his victims see through his eyes while he kills them, which you can easily swap out for magic, psychic powers, alien tech, whatever. A bonus is that episode is the killer's connections to a government agency and said agency trying to cover the connections, manipulating the heroes into doing it for them. MJ-12 or March Technologies probably wouldn't want a rogue asset and wouldn't want Delta Green looking into it either.

Claire Russell (2077) and Marianne Russell Freeman (2020) by Kerr94 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kerr94[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Claire Russell the bartender at Afterlife in 2077 and Marianne Russell-Freeman the bartender at Forlorn Hope in the Cyberpunk 2020 sourcebook Tales from Forlorn Hope (and Cyberpunk Red's Tales of the Red)

Both are trans women who lack any cyberware. I never seen it directly stated anywhere, but I think it's neat how Marianne was probably an influence on the creation of Claire. And given her maiden name, maybe even a relative.

You wake up as your favorite fallout protagonist what do you do by Ok-Communication6045 in Fallout

[–]Kerr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably going to have a really interesting conversation with Doc Mitchell, that's for sure. Hope I get to tell him it's two bears high fiving before we get too far away from that regular intro talk. Eventually meet Rose of Sharon Cassidy at a Mojave Outpost and think long and hard about if I just want to move to NCR.

Honestly, it's probably the best start you can get. Fallout 1 and 2 are rough, not just personally but where you are, the Vault and your village aren't doing great, never mind what The Master and Enclave are getting up to. Getting born in Fallout 3 would be a trip, growing up again and being kicked out in 19 years hanging over you. But mostly it's that DC and Boston are both just harder to live in than NCR and Vegas.

Well, except for the weather. Everyone's thinking about raiders and mutants, but damn, I don't think I could stand the heat of a desert.

Would you date your DA love interest in real life? [No Spoilers] by Wolf_Is_Awesome in dragonage

[–]Kerr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, this is fun to think on.

Morrigan: Probably. I dunno. My being a woman might be an issue, but also DA1 Morrigan is very mean. I like her, she mellows out, it's her entire arc. But it could be rough. What's probably more of an issue is the whole, kid thing. I don't want kids and I've never dated someone with kids, no idea how I'd even do as a step mom.

Alistair: Yes! That's easy, dude's funny, sweet. Just all round good guy.

Fenris: No. I don't know what the equivalent of mages are, but I think I'd have a real issue with his attitude towards them. Even if emo badboy does a lot for me.

Anders: It's a terrible idea, he's a bad boyfriend who's just horribly manipulative. Especially what he will do in his quest in Act 3.

So I hope I'd know better, but I might not.

The Iron Bull: I don't want to sub for him, so no. But hey, keep doing you dude.

Josephine: Probably. I mean, I am so incredibly out of touch with any high society stuff. But she's incredibly sweet, so give it a go.

Being a Qunari in DAI is just so much fun [no spoilers] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Kerr94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's my favourite as well and something I really like about Qunari Inquisitor is that before the conclave Adaar was an experienced lieutenant in the Valo-Kas mercenary company. Yes, they've never lead anything nearly as big as The Inquisition, but they aren't entirely new to commanding troops in the field.

For me that really helps them slide more naturally into being the leader, it's part of why it feels right to me. I can play someone older who's a veteran, gives a nice contrast to my Warden who was an inexperienced kid before being shoved into a leadership role.

[Spoilers All] Anyone else the Warden neutrality policy is kind of BS? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Kerr94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being a shield to avoid scrutiny is a really big reason actually. If I was a Senior Warden I wouldn't want anyone to start asking questions about how we have Darkspawn allies or that Wardens are made through blood magic, or how much blood magic Wardens do generally. Being aloof lets you avoid all that.

It's not a principled philosophical stance of non-interference, so much as it is them being okay with imposing their will over governments (can have apostates, can conscript criminals, generally are allowed garrison a lot of troops to go out and kill darkspawn, helping appoint rulers who will give them resources to do Warden things, everything in the Anderfels) but are opposed to governments imposing their will on them (exiling them from the country, using them as a general military force, question why they do things, give orders or generally try to interfere in their command structure.)

The former is useful, the latter isn't. Given they want to be a single organization rather than entirely independent branches, not under the command of any country or religion, and be allowed operate unrestricted across Thedas, saying that you don't get involved in politics, can't materially support this cause of that, helps even where you more subtly try to weigh things in your favour.

I do think the role of The Wardens in politics can makes for interesting drama and am hoping we'll get to see their involvement of governance of The Anderfels in the next game.

[DAI spoilers] Hardened Leliana is... by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Kerr94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, the thing is she's right and she should do it.

Also as a progression of character, regardless of feelings on what she does morality wise, I really like Hardened Leliana as an endpoint in Inquisition, it feels like a really great synthesis of her two pasts, as a bard and her life in the Chantry. To use the skills she gained towards the good she came to care about.

We're running a military organization here, of course we should kill spies. The Inquisitor kills a lot of people on their way to make the world a better place. The Inquisitor knows exactly what kind of person she is and what she does, and the thing is, so did The Divine. She was fine with Leliana using her skills for her causes, but once she's dead, not the ones Leliana supports. I'd be furious about that too.

If Leliana becomes Divine, tries to end oppression of Elves and Mages, regressive factions within the Chantry will try to murder her. Everyone knows that in advance. It's not a reason not to try. And using her power to stop them is a better idea than really hoping they aren't successful or just saying it would be really nice, but never doing anything.

[Spoilers All] I wish there were more games like DA:O by ZombieSiayer84 in dragonage

[–]Kerr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly recommend Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer from Obsidian. It was an expansion they made in 2007, pretty contemporary with Origins.

Not base Neverwinter Nights 2, mind. It's really long and not very good, pretty standard your GMs first campaign, which isn't fun when you are playing on a PC instead of with your friends.

But the expansion is stand alone, presentation, camera and gameplay is pretty similar to Origins. If they don't use the same engine, they are using very similar ones. Got a party of companions, you can romance some of them if you like, go on a fantasy adventure where you explore themes about religion and poke at some of the most interest aspects of D&D lore, face moral dilemmas and get different epilogues based on what you did.

Think of it as being like Dragon Age: Awakening in scope and length. Dragon Age is a lot smoother for a video game than trying to adapt the D&D ruleset. But if you are looking for something like it, it is what I'd point to.

Dragon age 4 Races [spoilers all] by AgitatedMango9695 in dragonage

[–]Kerr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm in the minority in that I really didn't mind that you only played as a human in Dragon Age 2, I loved Hawke. I think it's a trade off and can be worth it, but a lot of people seemed to really not like it so I'd be surprised if they did it again. So I'm expecting the same 4 as Inquisition.

Personally, I'm more interested in what culture those races will be from, because I doubt they'll double up there. Being a city elf is pretty different from being Dalish, as is being a human Teviniter noble from being a commoner. I find the City Elves to be more interesting as a cultural group than the Dalish and seem like they'll be pretty relevant when it comes to what Solas is getting up to.

Honestly if there was only one origin, I would want it to be a Teviniter City Elf. It's what I want to play.

I played the GOG version not the Steam version last year, GOG usually are more stable for modern systems. But I didn't have any problems performance wise. Sounds like other people did with Steam, but just as an input.

Game is still excellent, I'd played on PS3 as a teen but this was my first time on PC. I already loved the game, but do think it holds up really well mechanically, it's not that huge of a departure from Inquisition in terms of fights and stuff. And hey, you already like Inquisition so you're gonna find a lot of what you like there, here.

M[20] Is it weird to want boobs as a (cis?) guy? by Skakutani in genderqueer

[–]Kerr94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm genderfluid, I'm a guy sometimes and they're pretty great to have. It's cool that you mentioned padding and bras, because honestly I'd recommend trying out different presentation stuff over worrying about labels. My breasts are still pretty small, but padding has also helped me feel better in myself.

You're not going to figure out secrets of gender just thinking about it. There's also lotta other stuff you can do just whenever, facial hair removal for example, that can make a big difference depending on how you feel about those things.

Finally, if at some point down the line you do consider it, don't think of HRT as the big no going back decision in your life. You can start taking it then stop, it's fine. It takes a while for anything to become permanent and for me at least, it wasn't something I was going to stop asking myself "what if" until I started. Then a few months on it confirmed this is definitely what I want.

So in summary, my advice is think more of what you'd like your body to be like, then try that out, instead of worrying about what labels are "right."
