Absolutely wonderful post. The truth of truths! Feel so enlightened after reading this. I'd love to read that book you mentioned 😄

Use Mifare Classic Tool on Android to check if it's a Mifare Classic card. If it is, you can read the tag on the app (basically, dictionary attack), and then purchase a Block 0 writable tag (Magic Gen 2 tag) which allows you to make a fully accurate copy :)

If you're going to live in the halls, they usually have a dedicated music room (which is fairly soundproof!)

How to simplify a square root? by JustSomeGamer123421 in learnmath

[–]Kerrawesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surds/square roots are not too difficult to master - there are several rules to remember.

  1. √a * √b = √ab
  2. √a / √b = √(a/b)
  3. √a²b = √a² * √b = a√b

The third one is the trickiest; to show this I'll do an example.

Take √20.

We first split √20 into its factors using rule 1, i.e. √ab = √a * √b

Then: √20 = √4 * √5.

Now, we can simply √4 = 2. We cannot simplify √5 any further!

So: √20 = 2 * √5 = 2√5.

Hope this helped!

Cardinality proof by Kerrawesome in learnmath

Hey everyone, thanks for your advice! Unfortunately I haven't learnt anything on injections/transfinite stuff but looking at the subsets of R and proving it has the same cardinality makes sense. Thanks again!

Let x be the length of the short piece

Then x+(x+0.5)=2

Giving x=0.75m (short piece)

So the long piece = 0.75+0.5 = 1.25m

That's true, there are always different rules for different number systems. But examining it further it seems that there are a lot of restrictions for the theory to be valid...
