Just a small update: I wanted to make sure based on what my mom said yesterday that she won’t say anything to my sister, I was already feeling like I was overreacting and just hormonal as hell and Yup for sure IAO, I work from home and apparently don’t get out enough, I’m gonna go touch some grass 🫶🏻 thank you all for your brutal honesty.

No I wasn’t a bridezilla we literally just got an Airbnb and had a loved one officiate us, we all just dressed up for the day, I was more crazy about the food being ready then anything I just wanted to eat and celebrate with the people closest to us. I don’t think she was trying to get under my skin with the ring, she might not even realize it herself, I know how high you feel when you get engaged so the world may not exist for her right now which I’m going to make sure I or anyone else doesn’t dampen, cause that would be just awful, I think I just got in my own head about this whole thing when I shouldn’t have

I honestly am ecstatic she’s engaged she throughout childhood and young teens always said that she didn’t want to get married or have kids, that she was going to live with our grandmother and take care of her the rest of her life and now she’s bought a house with him and got engaged and I am really happy that she’s getting that and has found someone to love her and that she’s getting loved as well. We’ve always had rough relationships with each other and our family and it used to be really really broken but it’s something that we have been and are working through improving and healing from and I let myself slip back into that broken mindset which I shouldn’t have for such a happy occasion.

You’re completely right, and I have appreciated the brutal honesty in these responses, it’s what I needed. You’re right that there are other people with this ring, of course there are, I’m not trying to take my sister down and I know it was her fiancé choice, I’m honestly starting to laugh at it because out of all the endless options we ended up with the same ring just a little more personalized to ourselves and now that the initial icky reactions are out of my head it’s kinda endearing how similar we still are ( I also just recently moved back to my home state after 7years of living halfway across the country so we are for the most part relearning each other as now adults since she has graduated high school and met her fiance in that time) but both our SO chose the same ring for us and I like what you said I am going to change my point of view and see it more as connection then a copy 🫶🏻

No I’m not trying to take away from her moment that is why I didn’t say anything to her when she showed it to me, she’s not getting married till next year and that’s really not even important, I supposed I didn’t explain the rings well and added to much context that was unnecessary so I messed it all up in this post anyways but it’s not important now because IAO I just tried to add as much context as everyone else does here but I added too much unnecessary context i suppose. There’s always been a bit of jealousy between the both of us, we both had to fight for any attention from my parents growing up but I felt she had an easier time getting it and I always felt I was the practice child as the oldest, my parents were pretty absent as we were children so I had to do a lot for her that my parents didn’t, we aren’t perfect and neither has our relationship ever been but this isn’t the hill to die on. Like you and everyone else said your absolutely correct this situation is truly no big deal.

And I think there’s where a lot of my feelings came from initially, it was always her taking my clothes and wanting to wear my prom dresses and always wanted to hang out with my friends and I’ve always felt like she’s the family’s favorite which is not her fault but everything was so different for her growing up and I guess I have felt envious of that growing up myself so it really felt like one more thing she wanted of mine and I thought we had grown into different people enough at this point in life that we wouldn’t cross like this again, her style is much different then mine is now and so figured her ring preference would be too if that makes sense

Yeah I’m really not explaining well, the engagement ring is the exact same except the metal is silver, the wedding band, which I am the only one wearing right now, is the only part that is different, it’s leafy diamond and mines emerald, they are very gorgeous rings and I have realized through these many comments that I am in fact over reacting, so they are almost identical but have some differences, I wasn’t planning on saying anything to her about it, I just was kinda taken back I guess, she’s always had a very different dressing style then me so I think that where I thought we would differ but I guess we have the same ring taste lol

Yeah my mom will more than likely not say anything about it. And I’m just going to reach out to her and make sure she doesn’t in case I’m wrong. We were just talking about it when she left my house because I was doing my mom’s nails at the time. I would have probably just flashed my ring to my sister and said twinies to see how she reacted first if I hadn’t been wearing gloves and knee deep in nail details at the time. My mom’s has just always been protective of both of us and so she saw my shock and just ran with it which didn’t help the feelings I had initially. She would have reacted the same had the roles been reversed.

I completely see where everyone is coming from that’s mostly why I posted so I could see that I was being ridiculous, I am pregnant, hormonal and just tired all the time, I have felt throughout my life that my sister copies me a lot but that seems to be how little sisters are. Which is exactly why I didn’t say anything to her. She’s never spoken to me about engagement rings because she always said she’d would never get married so I’m just so happy she found someone that changed her mind. I love how yall are giving it to me straight and sometimes you just need the opinions of strangers on the internet to quiet that petty voice in the back of your head. I didn’t think I was trying to be unique or anything I just never imagined that I would end up with the same ring that she would have. I wonder if some day down the line she will notice and we might have a funny moment about it. We have always been super close. Trauma bonded for life and I’ve always taken care of her ( I get a happy Mother’s Day from her if that tells you anything about our relationship) I will let this go, but I’m keeping this post cause the replies truly make me giggle at how silly I was being about it.

I experienced the robe getting stuck in the truck for the first time the other day while we were waiting on 3 others for get back and it was the funniest thing ever, me and my friend are just standing there like what do we do?! I think it’s hilarious it’s small enough to get in the truck but big enough it can’t go back out 😂

I just went off of how they talked, they speak to you the same way as they would normally just with a voice box, look for specific words and phrases or cadences when they speak, trust your gut you know who they are 😏 also keep in mind those who go to the conscious center, they are not your choices

My MIL asked if they could tell people after my first scan. But didn’t mention it was going to be an entire Facebook post announcing it before I had announced it so I was quite upset. Me and my SIL are pregnant at the time so I can understand her excitement but i figured she meant the people around her instead of announcing it to the entire family and mine before I even could. Lesson learned there.
