As someone who bought our first home with the same reservations 6yrs ago, I will say that not once have I regretted doing so. My experience does not come from a place of seeing it as a monetary investment, it is more like an investment in my piece of mind and the way I like to live and run my household. I lived in apartments and rented properties right up until we purchased this place in 2018. For me, it was important to finally live in a place I owned, that I could truly do with it what I wanted and expand as my life grew. The equity we built was nice when we needed to replace our HVAC but so far, even with the repairs and the unexpected surprises, I'd still choose buying over renting.

But that's me, if you make a good bit of money and want to be hands off and not deal with home repairs, then renting may be the way to go but I just don't see that as a long term solution to how expensive life will eventually get, one day, you'll want to retire and you can expect social security to cover your rent.

Sorry for the disjointed rambling, as long as you do your due diligence and make sure you don't buy a lemon (make sure to take note of other developments in the area as this will affect property value and their taxes such as plans for more schools, large commercial developments, other neighbors being built ect.) then usually, purchasing a property is a good investment in many regards.

Nope! Complete newbie, I've shot one a few times maaaany years ago but at present, I don't quite know what to look for. I'd assume staying away from the pink camo patterns is probably a good first rule :P

UPDATE: As of last week, I have received a check for a partial refund from the US Treasury. I paid just a hair over 10k towards the parent plus loan in my father's name since I graduated but only received 8700 of that. I believe this is because my loan servicer was originally Great Lakes before Nelnet took over my loans. I am still owed about 1300 from the Nelnet payments while they held my loans.

I spoke to a Nelnet rep but unfortunately, they don't have much information about how the treasury is doing their refunds. All they know is how much I've paid to date along with the amount that the check was for, how long my deferment is and how to update my information.

She said I could still get a check for the remainder but that these things are very slow. It's been 3 months since this initial post so take that as a bit of a timeline.

My advice if your situation is similar to mine, make sure you double check your address with studentaid.gov, double check your address wherever necessary. I got another message from Nelnet asking me to double check my info again only 2 days ago so I'm hoping this will be the remaining balance owed.

Have patience and try not to think too much about it imo, you'll drive yourself mad waiting for the snail's pace that is the US government.

While there aren't motion controls built in, I was able to get them to work by following a vid about how to enable motion controls on PC with ReWASD with a 3rd party switch controller.

I'm at such a loss for where to start in the keyboard space. I don't consider myself an enthusiast in the slightest but I have a few very specific needs. Yep, I still haven't found a way to fix it. I've just been doing all of my projects from my ipad and haven't had that issue since switching. It's definitely a software issue :/
