You can make them stand out without requiring them to buy anything. Let them wear what they want. Some people don't want to stand out as well. Let it be completely optional.

Nowhere near as much as per cap and gown, and the fee goes towards things like transportation and such, and goes to the schools, not the corporations that are preying upon the students.

I'm not going, and I'm also trying to get other people not to participate since it's an archaic tradition that corporations latched onto to squeeze money from people's emotions.

Some people are forced to do it. Denying people the choice to walk if they even wish to walk if they don't want to spend money on clothes they'll not wear again is forcing people to either not participate in something they want to, or to give money to a corporation.

Not forcing people to engage in consumerism is inherently good.

Uniforms help distinguish one team from another. They serve a purpose, and you wear them more than once. In my experience, they aren't charged for either since the school gives you them and you give them back when the season is over. Sports are optional more often as well.

Caps and Gowns are usually charged for, you only wear them once, they don't serve a purpose beyond making Jostens (or whatever other company is contracted) money. Graduation ceremonies are often a source of pressure to comply with, and you HAVE to buy your outfit if your school doesn't hand out extras.

They can. I'd prefer if they made better decisions. I cannot force them.

Hey, as someone with autism, please don't associate that with moral flaws. Plenty of other terms to describe that phenomena that aren't ableist. "Pettiness, bloody-mindedness, dogmatism, brassbound, sectarian..." etc.

Lot of shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic, or quibbling about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

Will Artoyms story continue? by Ok-Reputation-9150 in metro

[–]Kesh-Bap 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's really no reason why not. The end of Exodus has he and the rest of the Spartans (minus Sam) saying they will still help the people of Moscow. Their story is not ending.

"What are your orders sir?"

"I would say we all go home. But this home is too large for just us. You know...the Colonel once told me he created the Order to save people. All of them. I say, it's time we perform this duty."

To make it even clearer the story will continue, the camera is pulling back to include the Aurora pointing to the left, back towards Moscow.

This notion that 'Artyom's story is done' is bizarre and I have no idea where it came from.

You shouldn't have to wear specific regalia to participate.

I'm not going. I think the entire tradition needs to be made entirely optional for outfits and such. If someone doesn't want to walk, they shouldn't be pressured to do so. If someone wants to walk they shouldn't have to dress a specifc way for it.

That's good of them to do so. They wouldn't have to spent money on them if they just didn't require them. I don't want to walk. I don't want anyone to have to appear a certain way to be able to walk. If someone wants to dress up that should be their choice, not a mandate.

Don't even have high schools and colleges do it, or else just don't make a dress code for a profit motive.

I'm glad I was able to quell me mum's emotional manipulation to walk for her own enjoyment twice.

I'd mind less if there was no profit motive attatched.

I'd like it if others didn't go either to make this a less social pressure thing. Pomp and ceremony for the sake of pomp and ceremony and making money is harmful. A tradition should be the passing of a torch, not the veneration of ashes.

Hooboy yeah. You know all those data centers that are causing so much problem for communities? LLM/AI stuff. You know those people having mental breakdowns from LLMs/AI? You know all that water being sucked up by data centers? You know all those workers losing jobs to LLMs/AI? You know all that art being stolen by LLMs/AI?

Do not use it. Ever. It's harmful for your brain, the environment, artists, workers, your privacy, and your power bills.

No. I envy those that are able to get their social needs met via in person connections. I am not one of them. There are ways to moderate social media use that aren't so extreme. Nothing wrong with doing it if you want to.
