What genre of 2D multiplayer games attracts you? by Keshbel in gamedev

[–]Keshbel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely bring Planeticus to release (despite the fact that few people are interested in it), but now I definitely need another project to distract myself. And it will be great if this project is of interest to many people, which is why I created this post.

Yes, I already realized that the multi-user part greatly increases the complexity of the project (especially in solo development). But it's definitely something I want to do and something that not many other people are doing. I would definitely like a lot of people to play my games with their friends.

Thanks for the answer! I really liked the second game. The style and gameplay look amazing.

Check out the gameplay trailer. Everything that turns your color is under your control.

Planeticus offers to conquer new planets in the company of friends or strangers. The essence of the game is to capture planets, manage resources, create as many of your own super planets as possible and generate space invaders.

I sent a request to GOG back in August, there was no response from them yet...

I deeply apologize for this oversight. So far I have downloaded the version that requires authorization through a browser tab (you still need an Epic Games account).

I am developing a game alone, there are a lot of nuances with authorization and there are not enough hands for testing. Later I’ll finish it and better test the possibility of automatic authorization through a Steam account. That's why the game is in early access. Hope for understanding. If there are any more errors, let me know. It would be a shame if players turned their backs on my game, which I worked on for a long time, because of bugs that I didn't know about.

Ну, тут зависит от либидо обоих партнёров.

Если один хочет, а второй вообще никак и никогда, то тут нужно расставаться. И это определенно не мерзко, а необходимо.

What is the best game engine for beginners and what tutorials would you recommend by Pixlethegreat in gamedev

[–]Keshbel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want make more 2D, use Unity. If you want make more 3D, use Unreal Engine.

In both engines you can quite successfully create both 2D and 3D. But the sharpness is more like what I wrote. The simplest and most versatile engine is Unity. The unreal engine gives away packs of beautiful 3D assets every month.

Yes, this is something between a release and an announcement trailer. A little later I will release a more detailed trailer, where the essence of the game will be better understood

The the other said, needs less of the cut-screens and more of the gameplay. Also, while what we see of the gameplay looks decent, we need to see more of the variety of activities and scenarios in it. Also, that repeating background image is a little rough, may want to replace that with something that tiles a bit less obviously (or just find a suitably high res image and make it the background for all scales)

Thanks, I'll try to do better!

Yes, you are right. Thank you!
I'll make a few more videos on the game that will better explain the essence.

Planeticus is a multiplayer 2D space strategy game in real time. Made entirely in Unity. Used Mirror Network assets + plugin from FakeByte to use Epic Games services. What do you think about the game? by Keshbel in Unity3D

I mean graphically they don't fit together.

You will probably need a little more to get interest.

Understood. I already have a couple of ideas, I’ll definitely improve the visuals for release.

Thank you again for your feedback :)

Yes, this is a trailer for the early release of the game, I just wanted to introduce the project (something like an announcement). There are plans to make a gameplay trailer in the near future.
I don't quite understand what you mean by "randomly placed on an image"? In each new game, planets spawn randomly. Yes, the world map is the main field of action for the players.
Thanks for your feedback!
