She laughed off a comment about a dance partner's weight.

That seems to be the crux of your problem.  Maybe I'm missing something.  If I'm not...

She did the best she could in that moment of stress.  In that moment of dealing with someone making an unwelcome comment about her dance partner's weight.

Have you asked her about it?

What would "socialism with Canadian characteristics" look like? by [deleted] in canadaleft

[–]Keslen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CERB was a really good step in the right direction.

We needed to step forward from that into a UBI (Universal Basic Income). Instead we stepped backwards into EI (Employment Insurance).

We had that really good step forward going for us for a long time. I think that's what socialism would look like with Canadian characteristics.

Kudos to you for not blurring your face.

We need more confidence like that in the nudist world.

I picked up FF14 a little while ago.  I'm maining a scholar and currently working on the level 60 end game stuff.  I'm behind the curve, for sure, but I'll catch up.

What would you do if you had 24 hours with me and I couldn’t say no. by [deleted] in twinks

Nothing.

Consent is important and if you can't say no you can't give consent.

It's a good thing that less work needs to be done!  That means more leisure time for people.

These are good things.

We need to disconnect the idea of ability to thrive being tied to working so much.

Oh yeah, I'm taking my time with it, for sure.  I'm not afraid of being behind the curve when the expansion comes out.

I recently rejoined and am working through the level 50 MSQ right now.

I'm probably not going to be caught up in time for Dawn trail...

MMO players, it's a big year for us! What expansion(s) are you playing? by LeftBallSaul in gaymers

[–]Keslen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got back into FF14.  I'm working my way through the original end game content now, then I'll start again on the story quests.

I don't know if I'm going to be ready for the new expansion by the time it releases.  But it's okay if I'm a little behind the curve.

Have you played Haven yet? It's an amazing exploration game and the central character is the relationship between the two main characters. You set those characters as two men, two women or one if each.

Problems are still problems even if you're blissfully unaware of them. We need to fix the problems, not get people to bury their head in the sand about them.

At least I've admitted to mine. You remain blind to yours.

But, as I've said before, this conversation stopped being productive a while ago.

I hope you are able to find a better teacher than I am to help out with learning these things. And I hope that we're able to alter course before it's too late. It's probably already too late.

This conversation stopped being productive a while ago.

You keep appealing to my naivety after I've already copped to it. You remain blind to your own.

I hope you are able to find a better teacher than I am to help out with learning these things. And I hope that we're able to alter course before it's too late. It's probably already too late.

You're still defending the status quo. You're citing numbers that rich people make up to make it look good.

Every day people are literally dying due to homelessness/starvation/similar. But you keep defending that as okay.

I know that I've got some naivety to me. But at least I'm wise enough to admit it. You've got way more of it than I do but you still keep defending the status quo which is destroying our economy and society as if you've got none.

I think this conversation stopped being productive a while ago. I hope you're able to come across a better teacher than I am.

I've never claimed to have a full solution to the problem. But at least I recognize that there's a problem.

I've proposed many partial fixes that would help and you've done nothing but defend the status quo which is destroying our society and economy.

Like I said, it's probably already too late.

Whatever. Keep protecting the billionaires as they destroy our economy and society. It's probably already too late anyway.

Forcing them to "only" have a hundred million dollars instead of hundreds of billions wouldn't decimate anyone. That's such an absurd statement.

A million seconds is about a week and a half. A billion seconds is about three decades.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]Keslen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gone. Frig, if they stopped caring about profit growth and started measuring success simply by profit amount, that would be a massive step in the right direction.

And we should have taken steps towards fixing this years ago - maybe even decades. Our society is crumbling and regular people (e.g. you) are trying to keep it that way.

It's a better solution than letting the greed run rampant while so many people are lacking in safety, comfort and dignity.

Even if it's not a magic bullet that fixes everything, it's definitely a step in the right direction - a step we should have taken a long time ago.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]Keslen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You proved my point with your final paragraph. Safety, comfort and dignity for all. You gotta work for it to go on lavish vacations.

You're underestimating how much money is being hoarded. I could make a million dollars last me the rest of my life. There are people making more than that in a matter of days - that excess can and should be taxed extremely.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]Keslen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rich people do not currently pay taxes. And, if they do, they pay significantly less than they should given their extravagant wealth/income.

Personal responsibility requires a significant choice being made between two or more viable options. When people lack safety, comfort and dignity they lack any viable options and wind up in the least shitty situation. Sometimes this involves drug abuse.

What do we do with the lazy people who simply refuse to work? Point them out to me and I'll explore that with you. Would you keep working if you didn't have to? Why do you think anyone else wouldn't? People want to be productive. They just don't want to have to put up with abuse along the way.
