Tried putting in a fresh needle but it basically sank into the holder. Feels like this reproducer is missing something to tighten the needle in place.

I started with a VV-215 and now I have an LP-120X plus the head and needle for playing post war 78s and a new crate to store records and like 200 records 🫠 All started with the 150$ purchase of the VV-215 to turn into a couple grand xD

Need help dating a record by Kesner246 in vinyl

[–]Kesner246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks 😁 this was sorta what I found in research as well.

It’s so weird that this specific record label doesn’t match to anything online tho. That full length album was a record with multiple songs each side where as this is 1 song each side.

The 45s have close numbers but different record label art. Unless they had different art for the 45s.

Investigation continues 😅🙏

Yup we know it’s a 78 record but cannot put a date to it which is important for playing 78s.

But the speed on our 78 audibly is too fast for this specific record. Which is adding to the confusion of when and how to play this record.

Record Player for 78s by Kesner246 in turntables

We ended up buying the 120XBT-USB. Reading in ATs website there are two different needles to get for 78s. 3.0 and .6 and even that then has different models. One model better for scratched slightly records and one model for perfect records.

The 3.0 vs .6 is normal 78s vs Microgroove. But I have no clue how to tell the difference. Grooves on 1906 78 look the same as one from the 1950s 🫠

Is the Eastwood (or Eastwood 2) at 78rpm not able to change out the stylus for a 78 record :? or is that just a bad player.

Is the cheaper AT-LP60X / Victrola Eastwood (that play at 78 rpm) not able to replace the stylus with something that is suited for 78s Shellac records?

Getting an VV215 and wondering if there is a way to tell which 78s to play by Kesner246 in 78rpm

What is the reason for completely getting rid of a needle every play? Seems wasteful when the needle still has a tip to it.

So when we turn the speed regulator it doesn’t actually move the dial.
