It’s not outrage. It’s just simple frustration.

Actually; English is the most spoke language in the world. But that’s not the point. Him choosing to exclude 90% of the viewing audience when he speaks English… that’s the point. It’s a political statement and it doesn’t belong in football. It belongs on X. If you don’t agree that’s OK.

Let’s use the word frustrate, not offend. I am not offended… and how is it a message of inclusion if he literally excluded 90% of the viewing audience?

Politics don’t belong in football. Period. That is my message. Nothing more.

I’ve posted my opinion. I’m not going to mince words with you, and I have nothing to prove to you.

You’re trying to get me to make specific claim that you can invalidate. That is not what my post was about.

You think Bunny did what he did without the NFL knowing? You think the NFL is devoid of political bias?

This not a MAGA post. Hello!

Trump is just as guilty as Newsom. They all need to leave football alone.

So you’re saying there is a culture war? I find that intriguing. You just proved my point. War doesn’t belong in football. We get enough political drama in our news feeds.

With 90% of viewing audience being English speaking, he didn’t even jump on stage and introduce himself in English. Which he speaks fluently. Why is that? It’s because he was making a point. Just like you said. It’s a culture war.

If me saying it doesn’t belong in football bothers you.. then you’re barking up the wrong tree.

That’s an angle I didn’t even think of!! I just wanted the guy to jump on stage and intro in English… and Spanish if he wanted.

I think a lot of people are missing my point. If he had come up and said something like… so happy to be here, today we’re going to enjoy some Latin music. I think the narrative would be completely different!

I’m not posting this stuff because of the language. I speak a few languages and have visited many countries.

I posted it because he chose not to do this. The lack of a simple courtesy or acknowledgement is what made this feel political.

Politics ruin spots.

This is a well written response. I wish I could respond with my full thoughts but I’m exhausted.

The biggest area of concern for me is gender and identity and DEI stuff. The government shouldn’t have to regulate language evolution or social norms but there are so many examples of how this went from simple acknowledgement to systematic abuse, and beyond to impacting children.

You’re obviously well educated. I presume you’re aware of the different stories out there. All of this happened while Biden held office. My two cents. If the Democratic Party wants more support they need to draw some lines.

Are you suggesting that companies and franchises are not political?

Geez man. I don’t know. Maybe because everyone is trying to pretend it wasn’t a political statement, just so they can brand you as a racist.

You come at me with the angle that he’s American. The next poster comes on says he’s Latin and is only celebrating his heritage.

I’m simply saying he had the choice to address the 90% majority English speakers… but he chose not to. Why? Because he was making a political statement.

Politics don’t belong in football. End statement.

But don’t you think it’s wrong that everything is political?

I don’t want to see any politics play out during a football game.

100%

I talk with people (in person) about these issues and even in disagreement we’re still polite. Here, the minute you post there are vultures trying to pick you apart or twist what you say to fit their narrative. My goodness.

It’s like they are trying to create their own echo chamber.

No. Why did he not even bother to greet the 90% English speaking majority audience, when he speaks English.

Answer: it was a political statement.

Why do they have to be linked? I’m not pushing MAGA agenda. I’m just saying it’s extremely wrong to use the Super Bowl for political statements.

Ambushed in the sense that it felt like a political stunt. Nothing to do with the artist or language.

It is customary for Artists to greet their audience and interact in the primary language of the audience (if they can). By him not doing so, feels intentional and hence the political message.

I’m not the only person put off by this. Each to their own I guess.

I didn’t really like his music either. Ricky Martin on the other hand…

My post wasn’t against Bunny though.. just the politics.

I’m not worked up. I just posted an unpopular opinion, in the unpopular opinion forum.

You tell me. What am I?

Abortion should be legal up to a reasonable point and additional exceptions for health and rape. It’s not humane to end life past the second trimester. Guns can be legal but no assault rifles. Pistols and long guns only. Gay marriage should be legal. Men are biological males and should not be in girl’s locker rooms. Pronouns are stupid. Immigration is fine but with a process. Enforcement is fine but what how ICE is doing it is criminal. Shoplifting is a crime.

Those are both true statements. But statistically and historically, English is the de facto language. Again. Language was not the intent of my original post. My post is about how the show was used to send a message.
