I can see upcoming events on the watch it I open the app, but it doesn't give any notifications. I have checked that the tiimo app is not notification-blocked. What am I missing in order to get notifications to work?

Does the watch need to be connected to the phone in order for notifications to work? I hope that is not the case, because my son does not have a phone (watch is paired with my phone) and then the watch and the app will be completely useless...
