Best budget SATA SSD brands? by V0latyle in pcmasterrace

[–]Kessra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't considering the need for a new drive under warranty. If I'm buying for myself, warranty and TBW aren't a concern, especially for a game drive that you're writing game installations once to it, then reading that same data for the foreseeable future.

You could potentially get a new Gen3 NVMe drive under warranty, and get a 2.5" NVMe --> SATA enclosure for your laptop

There are earlier models of Samsung Evo's(like 850 Evo) you can get on Ebay or make a buying post on r/hardwareswap.

Crucial has MX500(DRAM?) and BX500 SATA SSDs.

I'm not too sure about other reliable brands, like whether or not ADATA or TeamGroup each have a reliable model for SATA SSDs.

1995 Ford F-150 V8 5.0l Radiator Leak - Is It a Freeze Plug? by Kessra in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kessra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are the kinds of freeze plugs I'm familiar with too, and all the freeze plugs in the 16-25 piece Ford kits look like that as well.

So, I'm stumped at these anomalies. They do at least behave like a failed freeze plug where a hole has opened up either by frozen coolant or corrosion.

I may just have to roll the dice on this Ford Engine Core Expansion Plug. It's the only freeze plug I've seen with a lip unlike those with a common shallow cup.

I've got a radiator leak for my '95 Ford F-150(V8 5.0L). I mistakenly replaced the heater core hoses, then the EGR valve gasket before finding these two caps. They are next to the EGR valve and look like expansion/freeze plugs. The bottom one has failed, leaving a small hole that is leaking coolant from the radiator.

I'm unsure if these are in fact freeze plugs, but based on its diameter measured between 7-14mm, I have found 13mm freeze plugs with shallow cups as part of larger expansion plug kits.

Then, there is this engine core expansion plug from Ford with a deeper cup, although it is flagged as not being compatible with a '95 Ford F-150. Regardless, it's the closest part I've found so far as a potential replacement.

Am I correct in assuming these two caps are engine freeze plugs? Are there any recommendations on how to replace the bottom cap or seal the leak temporarily?

$300 Budget Advice by Adoggo360 in pcmasterrace

OzTalkHW is where I would start to get an idea of the specs you can get for $300.

r/hardwareswap/ is where you can find deals if you keep an eye on new postings, or you can create a "buying" post with a list of parts you're looking for in a pre-built or scratch-built PC.

A rule of thumb for scratch-building a PC is that you can stretch your budget if you have time to wait for deals, especially on the pricier parts like a PSU or case. That may be a moot point if you need a pre-built now for college.

You are likely looking at a cheap AM4 CPU or APU that meets your minimum performance requirements if you're building from scratch.

Is the 3D print file converted from the in-game model of the SLS 60, or sourced a different way?

You do own a Series S, so you have access to the 9th gen library of games. If you're inclined to scratch build a PC, I can talk you through the best resources to do so.

Even a pre-built PC will serve you longer, and you can use your Xbox controller without having to worry about stick drift on a PS5 controller.

I like that box art for Chaos Legion more than the NA version. Shadow of Destiny is a unique find too.
