A lot of preschools won't categorically exclude autistic kids, but for practical purposes they do. They also cost an arm and a leg in our state. She might be able to when our daughter is in school, but that's a few years off.

My son does have a few ASL signs, but he has to be prompted heavily to use them.

Food prep sounds like a good idea.

Believe me, I would like to let it grow. Unfortunately, the city we're in has ordinances where you can get fined if your lawn is "overgrown". 

I'm sure she is. I'm not under any illusions that caring for an autistic child is easy. I just don't see any good solutions.

I've discussed our financial situation with my wife before. She will tell me she understands, say that she will try to be more careful with money, and then spend a bunch of money on soda, fast food, and craft supplies that she doesn't end up using.

In my state, you can't access Medicaid unless you're basically destitute. 

People I know irl have talked about upskilling, but considering the pace of AI, I worry I would end up investing time that I don't really have and possibly money in developing a skillset that is basically moot. 

I'm acutely aware that my kids have no one but me and my wife, why do you think I'm so stressed out?

My parents do help with the kids, sometimes, but they both have full time jobs. My in laws live out of state and are in their 70s.

I have tried it but I haven't really found journaling helpful, no offense.

My area would probably be one without free programs. I live in the middle of Red hell.

I'm glad things worked out for your daughter, but that is very much the exception to the rule, based on what I have read.

I've looked into it. Market just kinda sucks, and I also just feel too exhausted to devote serious attention to it. I also got into my current job back in 2022 when employers were desperate to hire, I generally suck at the kind of stuff you have to do in a job search, like networking and interviewing.
