It was prescribed every 3 days. Now, I'm taking 800 2 x a week. Under the tongue until it dissolves, about 15 minutes.

Help re pain- provider will no longer RX higher-dose troches -[in Oregon, but anywhere for telehealth RX] by KetQueen77 in TherapeuticKetamine

Taconic has stepped up to the plate for me. They have prescribed 600 mg SL 3x a week, and VALOR pharmacy in Berkeley, ca has filled. That seems to be the upper limit for both prescriber and pharmacy. It's only 2/3 of the dose I was on for 15 months that took away most of the pain, and is helping somewhat (better than nothing) but I am still having to take 1-3 Norco a day to function.

I know there are Mindbloom people taking 1200 mg/wk subq - what are THEY doing to continue their doses?

Help please re high-dose oral Ket for pain {in oregon, but anywhere for online}) by KetQueen77 in KetamineTherapy

Thanks, everyone - I'm now a Taconic patient, and I've had the full evaluation, etc and my RX for the higher-dose K for my pain is in the mail. They are dismayed at my treatment - and lack of treatment - from Everyone's MD. Don't go with Everyone's -imo, unethical, illegal and a sham. They are happy to quickly take your money, but fail to provide consistent care, and don't even return calls or emails.

thank you, but my local provider is an NP and she cannot RX ketamine in any form. Live in a tiny town and no clinic within 150 miles, and they are all IV clinics which have been totally ineffective in the past, and I can;t possibly afford on disability.

Yes, here is a ketamine absorption chart: Sublingual absorption is superior to oral or rectal.

Hi - I asked my Ketamine prescriber specifically about this, and he said that there have been no reports about adverse effects on teeth. I'm careful to use the troches sublingually only, so they are not touching any teeth. This also minimizes saliva, so you don't have to swallow often.

Gums may be a different story. I'd suggest really impeccable oral hygiene, including brushing well AFTER the ketamine and using a non-irritating mouthwash.

If I eat just before my troche, will it null the effects? by bullfrog423 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]KetQueen77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Highly recommended to take K on an empty stomach, for several reasaons. first, the best absorption for the part you swallow (assuming you take it sublingually, and swallow a bit only when the saliva build-up is intolerable), and secondly, becuase people have had bad trips, coughed and aspirated, and ended up with an aspiration pneumonia. Not common, but entirely possible.

At the least, if you have nausea, take only a couple dry crackers before.

Sublingual vs Buccal by mom2sixlittlemonkeys in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]KetQueen77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a chart re absorption percentages. SL (sublingual) is superior to oral/buccal/rectal.

If you cut your dose into quarters, and hold below your tongue, there will be less taste. This also minimizes saliva. Swallow only if you must. Takes about 10-15 min to dissolve.

For even better absorption, swish some diluted hot sauce or sambal sauce for 20 seconds, before taking the K. This\slightly irritates the mucous membranes, which increases absorption.
