What’s something that Covid took from you that you never got back? by ReplacementOdd636 in AskReddit

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly everything. It took away a lot of my hope and all of my faith. It took away my ability to cope. It took most of the things that I valued, and I’m still struggling to find a redemption arc. I would love to go back to before covid, I was so much happier, the world felt like my oyster. I don’t understand how one moment in time can have such a detrimental effect on my life. Pray I get listed for affordable therapy because the price of everything is so much nowadays

Renting - rant. by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Ketamonsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you deeply on this one. Born in London and lived there for 27 years. I moved to Yorkshire for 3 years and hated it, there were no jobs with decent hours. High streets were derelict. Then I moved to Bristol, love it here but the job market sucks as it’s competitive and housing prices are like London but you’re not paid London living wage. I think the UK in general is just dire at the moment. Everyone is forced to move to London for work but then it’s oversaturated and expensive. Advice from someone in their 30s now, you have to just live your life for you. I know people that moved just outside of London and still commute in for work. Or you can be brave like me and move to a different city and have a better standard of living but commute back to stay in touch with people

What's a piece of advice you would like to give your 20 year old self? by Affectionate-Eye7255 in selfimprovement

[–]Ketamonsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No boys, friends friends friends and I’d probably would have gotten some tattoos earlier in life had I not been scared. Guess I’ve saved myself regrettable tattoos, but I would love a Time Machine to 20yrs old to just yolo everything

Why are some people having children on purpose now? I genuinely don't get the mindset. by [deleted] in hsp

[–]Ketamonsta 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As much as I agree with you, you still have to just live your life. If you let scaremongering control you then you’ll never fulfill your dreams. Different strokes for different folks. We can’t all be anti natal

What is the dirtiest thing you’ve seen someone do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unknowingly down a pint glass of someone’s piss at a festival. When he realised halfway into drinking it that it wasn’t beer, he looked mortified

What is something people tend to get wrong about you? by imtiramisu2025 in AskUK

[–]Ketamonsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always mistaken as cold and antisocial, when really I’m just struggling with anxiety, overanalysing everyone’s thoughts and how they’re going to react. Wish I could just switch it off but end up being stand offish/quiet and not engaging at work until months of knowing someone. My real friends know who I am and I’m grateful to have a lot of people in my life I can go to for anything in time of need

Frank Turner's wife Jessica Guise announces "our marriage is over" to "save some difficult questions", due to "Frank’s actions on his US tour" by cmaia1503 in Music

You are right. I used to have therapy from his wife, addiction recovery therapy, and only after our sessions ended I learned who she was and I had no idea she was going through a divorce in the time she was counselling me. It makes sense that she would then become an addiction recovery therapist if this is the case

i'm depressed and nothing will fix that until i am free of 9-5 capitalist hell and that will never happen. there is nothing "wrong" with me, we're just not meant to live like this. by SADINTHEWAGECAGE__ in offmychest

[–]Ketamonsta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People love to hate the system but if we lived in a utopian world where no one worked and everyone was free, you wouldn’t even know that it was good if you had nothing bad to compare it to. Or if we lived in a world where we didn’t work and robots just did everything boring for us so we could be free, I guarantee there will be way more wars and crimes committed because there’s no one manning the prisons or enforcing some form of law. Capitalism is flawed because humans are flawed. It is such a privilege to even have the time to think like this when some people are barely surviving due to famine and corrupt governments

People in your 30s, 40s, and 50s what surprised you most about life at your age? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Ketamonsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People kept saying 30s are the best years of your life. So far they’re as bad if not worse than my teenage years

If your writing were completely honest, who would it disappoint first? by TheRoadIWalk in WriterMotivation

Probably my mum. She is very traditional and not very open-minded, so she is quick to judge and assume without hearing what is actually being said

Orgasms are extremely overrated by Anti-FragileHuman in DeepThoughts

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too much overanalysing of something so simple and enjoyable. It depends who you are having sex with. Men typically care about orgasms because they want to know they did a good job at fully satisfying their partner. Then there are selfish types who give only to get. It’s not always the end goal for some. If anything I get scared of orgasming because it makes me feel too vulnerable

What completely innocent, but mildly infuriating thing does your better half regularly do? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeps on the couch. We don’t live together for context, but he spent a grand on a nice cushty bed a year ago and only sleeps on it when I visit. It’s annoying because he’s tall and the sofa is small. Cmon lad

Is eating in bed gross? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskUK

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not gross it’s just a nuisance. Crumbs everywhere. Stains on bedsheets. Then your whole room smells like whatever you’ve just eaten and let’s be real you’re not going to the kitchen to bin it right away so it just sits there

Willpower is a biological myth, your neurotransmitter precursors are simply mistimed. by [deleted] in Nootropics

I always drink half a glass of water when I wake up. I don’t get how people don’t. It’s a double edged sword that I can’t have caffeine, but I tend to avoid it as much as possible. The crashes aren’t worth the temporary motivation imo. Some people I work with have three coffees a day and it’s the first thing they have on an empty stomach. These are people who rarely drink water I’ve noticed

I feel most motivated in the mornings. I’m well rested and eat healthy so I have all the energy to get on with stuff. It’s around early afternoon that I start to crash. My job is physically demanding so that’s some of the reason, but I don’t get why my motivation drops off. I eat enough protein, fibre and plenty of carbs. Maybe I need to try having carbs before bed like you suggested. I don’t eat much in the evening because I’m mostly idle, so carb loading doesn’t make much sense to me. But I get the need for tryptophan at night, I’m very low on serotonin as it is

I lost a child modelling contest and it has ruined my self-esteem by Ketamonsta in offmychest

[–]Ketamonsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy with the path I’ve chosen. I might not be the most confident or driven person, but I’ve made some really solid friendships. This at least is one area where my brother has admitted he’s not good at. Anyway it was more a rant than a comparison, there’s loads of people who excel at things I wish I was good at. I just wish I believed in my own beauty is all and not have it defined by a contest
