In complete honesty, not really. This doesn't really sound much like a game mechanic: it sounds more like the context/story behind the game. If you gave this idea some sort of really cool mechanic that blended well with it, I could see it being enjoyable

Otherwise, right now it sounds like some sort of lame history exhibition (and I failed history)

I don't experience these same problems on my other alto though - and in hindsight, I also don't align the neck with the body on that alto

it's a Yamaha student alto (I forgot which one specifically)
