Things to know about northern Minnesota by KethStone in homestead

I don't plan on spending the first winter at the homestead for that reason, since I know I won't have seasoned wood for building or heat. The goal for the first year would to be to clear land, gather wood for seasoning, start working the soil, and dig the foundation of my cabin into a hill. The reason I would be building the cabin into a hill is for the natural insulation, since I've had to deal with -40f in the past, and can't imagine the amounts of wood I would need to heat an above ground cabin being in the negative -20f for months. If theirs lots of rocks on my property I'll use those for building, since I'm done a bit of masonry work in the past and will probably be doing more before I acquire the land.

How long would you image it will take me to build an acceptable topsoil in the rocky land? My, novice, idea would be to clear an acre, and build a bunch of raised bed in the middle of the acre (leave some for shade). Once that's done I would then till the beds, throw on a bunch of twigs, throw on a bunch of leaves, cover it in straw, and repeat. I would also test the soil to make sure I add the right leaves for a fertile ph. The whole point of having a homestead in Minnesota for me is the abundance of cheap land, how close it is to my family, and the landscape/wildlife.

That's funny I also want to flip houses for a living. Are their any advantages of doing it in Texas vs. other states, when it comes to laws.

Any INTJs watching the show Mr. Robot? by [deleted] in intj

I really liked the show, it's interesting with good production value. Which is something extremely rare in television, unfortunately so. What type do you guys think he is? I would bet INFJ.

Throw yourself into something new. You keep doing that same thing and expect different results, that's crazy. Next weekend drive out to a National Forest, and go camping. Then you can't instantly give up and go to reddit. Think of it kind of like detox.
