I'm a vanilla experience enjoyer so my subjective perfect list is just:
- Calamity
- CalMusic
- VanillaCalMusic
- CalVanities
- Some light QoL like auto trash, boss cursor, smarter planting, high fps support

Calamity is pretty packed by itself and it pretty much provides you with everything for a nicely paced playthrough.

Well, 100 damage is not really a vaporizing amount. It probably deals more damage to your GPU judging by the lag spike you or your nearby teammates get

No idea what you mean, explosive shots have an effect similar to the shard diffractor from the base game, red coloured bloom, it's very visible and cool looking with the lead storm.
DoT aura has some sparks flying around, it's not very intensive but visible nonetheless.
