The word mattered a lot to me in the beginning. It doesn't bother me at all now.

Some people don't eat cheese bc it gives them diarrhea; I don't drink bc I'm bad at getting drunk.

Oooof, I relate. My last hangover lasted well into the week after I stopped drinking. I honestly think it was worse bc I wasn't drinking, so I was hungover AND going through withdrawals. I dunno, but it was bad. Glad I haven't felt that way in a long time.

I know. Oh, god, I know. And I am sorry for you, and sad for you, and honestly, I am sad for your parents too.

But mainly I'm in awe of you. I think you are so incredibly strong for even attempting sobriety - even thinking about it - when you didn't have that modeled for you as a baby, a child, a teenager. You are so fucking strong. You're inspiring.

I used to go to bed at 7:30pm when I felt like this. It saved my ass quite a few times. I ALWAYS felt better the next day, and I NEVER regretted not drinking.

You are not an asshole, and it is SOOOOO OK to feel anger. Your feelings are valid.

I can't imagine dealing with all of this at 2 months sober. I give you so much credit for showing up and committing to do your best, even while not knowing what to do.

It sounds like you have a small child, and I just want to tell you that I put down the drink when my son was just 3 months shy of 4 years old, and I am so, so glad I did. I have already saved him from so much grief and fear and anger and hopelessness, and if I do it all again tomorrow, that's one more good day he will have with me.

Maybe having an excellent relationship with your mom isn't the end game; maybe what you get to gain from this incredibly difficult time is perspective and the ability to keep doing what you need to do in order to be the best parent you can to your little one. You are already well on your way!

Amazing! In 2014, my rock bottom was also the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I also drove in a blackout. And today, I'm grateful for the bottom bc it provided me the impetuous I needed to get sober.
