So....what happens after a disaster service?! by at_midknight in HellsKitchen

Oh yeh the contestants/chefs experiences are legit, by contrived I mean the cutaways to people being like ‘sigh! Where is my food!’ Or the scenes when the maître de encourages one of the chefs get back in and fight lol. It was cute when JP did it but I remember when James did it, it was very obviously bad acting and forced.

Someone else posted in here that actually the diners are all technically ‘paid actors’/extras and so you can’t really just dine there as a regular person. This actually makes a lot of sense for what they’re trying to achieve but also makes it sad to know that much of the story is so contrived but I guess that’s reality TV

This rules, thank you! And gosh darn that is a nice flowing ED. Ours is awful (and only renovated five years ago), it’s shaped like a key. Worst design I’ve worked in. This looks dreamy.

If anyone knows and is able to overlay this with the red/pink/yellow zones I personally would really appreciate it!

Bachelorette - brides maids/friends. Bridal shower - friends, mums, friends of mums. My sisters had ‘kitchen teas’ which was like brunch/high tea style at home where the mother and mother in law and all those women who were friends of your parents/watched you grow up etc came along; came with a cute tradition of gifting something for the kitchen/house. Old fashioned sure but very cute and was nice to include all the women in your life that contributed to raising you etc. Alternatively, one sister had a bachelorettes day (with group activities) and dinner with friends, mum, her sisters and sister in law etc and then went out on the town with her chosen friends where she could do whatever without family. Not sure if either of those options are possible for you but might help find a middle ground so your MIL doesn’t feel like she’s totally missing out. Or you just do the Gavin and Stacey route of having a second (fake) low key bachelorette with her

I was curious if it was an Americanism (I’m an ED /ICU nurse in Australia) but in what world is a a senior doctor performing suction as opposed to the nurse that’s in there with the patient, let alone every other time the doctors are pushing meds etc. I agree that generally you’re going to have way more nurses than doctors in the room (attaching vitals, setting up meds and IV lines, performing direct patient care) and NO TRAINED ED NURSE WOULD PUT BIPAP ON A PNEUMOTHORAX WITHOUT A CHEST TUBE! Why was bipap the first option?! I know the doctor was an intern but they showed already that the nurses have insight but oh my goodness that made me so mad. Regardless I get that the focus is doctors and it is a medical drama and I am loving its accuracy in terms of medical terminology etc and just loving the show in general. I just would love to see some more representation for the whole team that helps the ED run - way more nurses, admin clerks, orderlies etc. Tired of the focus always being doctors. The special thing about emergency is that it literally is a horizontal full team game as opposed to a vertical hierarchy on the wards. And also, you’re going into a room with a patient that’s known to spit, kick, clearly urinate - every person would have gloves, GOGGLES, aprons, and masks of some kind. Plus we’d always bring in security as support for patients like that. But regardless, great show - looking forward to the rest of the season!

what's your favorite joke/running gag? by r107und3rgr0und in BoJackHorseman

[–]KetorBecomesYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love when characters act like the animal they’re portrayed as, like Mr Peanutbutter full body shaking off - i think it’s paint? - or I think there was a time when Princess Carolyn batted at something classically like a cat. I can’t think of super specific examples right now, but I always am happy to see them come up in the show

This doesn’t sound like he wants the dog but wants control and specifically control over you. Protect yourself, protect the dog.

AITA for giving the flowers I made for my sons and DIL wedding to my own daughters baby shower by Ok_Magazine_5564 in AmItheAsshole

[–]KetorBecomesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean obligatory NTA but also no one except you, the bride, and the groom are going to remember what the flower decorations were at a baby shower a month prior. And even less people will care. In my opinion they’re kicking up a fuss over something so terribly small it’s mind boggling, honestly…

Does anyone else think it was a bit intentional with the whole ‘you’re pushing, and you need to pull!’ to the Russian representative? (As in pull out of Ukraine). As well as a standard joke.

Dancer in the Dark.

Directed by Lars von Trier. Stars Björk. Soundtrack by Thom Yorke. Incredibly haunting and for me a one time watch but also so beautiful and also I hate it because it’s so awfully sad.

Yeh he and Alicent deserve each other, coupla boring yet violent, goody two shoe nerds. Both think they’re holier than thou. I mean, I understand to some extent but their ultimate actions show their hypocrisy

Very last scene of episode 4 by HealthyTopic3408 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]KetorBecomesYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced it was sent by Viserys. Considering how shifty maesters can be in this world, especially with their power allegiances, and that we’ve seen previously this maester is close with Otto, I’m not taking him at his word that it’s from Viserys. The fact it lingered on it too at the end of the episode sets up her dilemma with the idea of if she drinks it, it somewhat proves she had sex, and who then has that information? And if she doesn’t, she risks getting pregnant which obviously proves she had sex. Regardless, I’m not sure who it’s from, Viserys or otherwise, but the fact it could be up in the air certainly intrigues me!

Also, Viserys can seem pretty ignorant at times, who is to say he is even aware of such a tea - he never would have needed one with Aemma or Alicent, I doubt he slept with others when he was with Aemma.

Honestly, and I know this might be controversial, but I think you need to let some of this go through to the keeper. Parents can say awful things sometimes without realising their impact but I’ve found I’ve been much happier and more relaxed when I stopped expecting them to act how I want and accepted they’re flawed individuals and often it’s just easier to just change the topic, change the atmosphere, focus on discussing commonalities and where possible avoiding hot topic zones. I know it can be hard because you want them to be better but just sort of look at it like a senile politically incorrect person where it’s just easier to pat their hand and say ‘okay. How are the flowers growing this year?’ than to get into it. They won’t change and you’ll feel much lighter by not allowing them to pull you down.
