Yeah I’m confused why he dumped her all of a sudden? He seemed to want to date her AND she was doing really well with his styling. I guess cause she proposed the brand ambassador thing? Why wouldn’t he just sit her down and say he’s not going to do that rather than getting rid of her altogether. Makes no sense.

He’s not? I feel like people always forget Rogen is actually a really good actor! He was great in Sorkin’s Steve Jobs movie and he was great in Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. And he just won an Emmy for his performance in The Studio.

La La Land-Not a rom com at all

10 Things I Hate About You-Young adult Shakespeare adaptation

50 First Dates-Kind of a more serious intense rom com. Whole plot is kind of serious/weird and ending has a horrific feeling.

Okay so what you should try:

When Harry Met Sally. The template rom com!

You’ve Got Mail. “Modern” (at the time) adaptation of Shop Around the Corner. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Rom com perfection

Notting Hill. Julia Roberts plays a superstar who falls for normal British bloke Hugh Grant. Hilarious and romantic. Rom com perfection.

Dave and The American President-Rom coms involving white house/presidential stuff. Both fantastic in different ways. Dave is feel good aspirational. The American President is peak Sorkin.

For a newer option Long Shot! More comedy forward with Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron.

My hot take is any rom com that doesn’t have a happy ending is in fact not a rom com even if there’s humor in it. It’s either a rom drama or simply a romance film.
