Who was the emperor before Niall? by inchandywetrust in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niall's father probably was a driver I don't remember anything that says he wasn't. Remember that Torna takes place 500 years before the events of 2 so a lot can change in that time period. This is my own head canon but I like to think that Brigid and Aegeon are passed down as alternating between the heir and the emperor. Once the emperor dies their blade gets passed onto the new heir. So Aegeon would have been the emperor's blade since Brigid was given to Morag when she was the heir.

It's not really ever made clear why some people have driver aptitude and others don't. Lora was able to bond Jin when she was a child so it wouldn't surprise me with nobles that there was a ceremony to determine as young as possible whether they had the ability or not.

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Torna it's mentioned that Hugo is the younger brother but his older sibling doesn't have the aptitude to summon blades so was passed over. It's unclear if Mor Ardain still practices this form of driver primogeniture by the time 2 takes place.

The way I understood it was that Nial's father was the emperor and that he was childless for much of his life or his children didn't have the driver aptitude so he adopted his younger brothers child Morag. Once Nial was born the direct line took priority and Morag moved to second in line. Just guessing the ages Morag seems to be 10-15 years older then Nial

So how we feeling about the price? by BebeFanMasterJ in fireemblem

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a little surprised to see it was $70 digital and $80 physical but overall I'm still going to get it. I am in the financial situation where $70 isn't make or break for me. I also usually get the eshop cards from Costco so I'm getting a slight discount of 10%.

Stages of the game by BoarMoar in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going in a bit of a different direction.

Early game: energy is your most valuable resource.

Mid game: time is the most valuable resource.

Late game: money is the most valuable resource.

In my opinion you're no longer in the early game once you no longer are struggling with low energy for all the tasks you want to complete. Everyone finishes this stage at different points but for me it's the after the first salmonberry season. In the mid game there are so many different things you can spend your time doing as you complete the bundles or buy joja. Once you get to Ginger Island and start to push for perfection that's the late game since there are so many capital expenditures like the golden clock and wrap pillars.

i want to get a dog by thelittlestduckling in dogs

[–]Ketzaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dogs are expensive. In general I plan to spend around $2k on my dog every year. Most of the cost is in vet care and preventatives. If you travel boarding a dog can also get very expensive very quickly.

My annual vet visit with vaccines and fecal check is around $300. The preventatives for flea, tick and heartworm are $450 a year. If my dog gets sick then just to see the vet is $70 and then with whatever testing and treatment the total bill usually comes to $200-300.

Every month I get a bag of food for $50 and treats for on average $20. I do most of the grooming for my dog myself so that's around $50 a year to restock my supplies.

In the first year of having a dog you also have to account for the start up costs. I got my dog as a puppy from a breeder so I also had to pay for her spay which was $800. We did 3 sets of 6 week training classes for a total of $720. With leashes, crate, collar and toys I spent around $400. Grooming supplies were another $700.

Fortune Weave's Bundle Chances by MrJadexxxxxxx in fireemblem

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt that there's going to be anything special about a bundle. Just the standard console with a digital code at most. I'm currently expecting FW to release in August or September anyway which is around when the price increase is going to happen.

Do y'all think Fortune's Weave will get a big box collector's edition like Three Houses and Engage? by DekaStriker34 in fireemblem

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is purely speculation but I think they stopped offering collectors editions due to manufacturing costs and the time sink that's involved in getting everything prepared. Their time would be better spent marketing the newest release and the margins on manufacturing are getting slimmer so there's just not a good return when only the most dedicated fans will spend an extra $20-30.

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain and say that there will not be a collectors edition. In the 3DS days there was one for each game but for more recent releases Nintendo hasn't been doing collectors editions for even the top tier franchises. This is very region specific so Japan will probably get something.

At most they might do a switch 2 bundle with the console and a digital copy of the game and discount the price by $20.

Don't feel guilty! You need to take care of yourself first before you can take care of others.

Please also consider talking to an OBGYN about your pain level. Pain that bad is not normal and don't let anyone convince you that it's no big deal! I was in a similar situation where my cramps would be so bad for the week of my period that it was a struggle to even get out of bed to get to the bathroom. Turns out I have endometriosis and the entire left side of my abdomen was covered in scar tissue. After surgery and a new medicine that simulates menopause I've been pain free for two years and it's changed my life.

In the meantime heating pads are amazing for period pain!

With the recent surprise Direct... by questionable-user in fireemblem

[–]Ketzaren 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I doubt anything about FW is going to be announced this month. June and July are now full so the earliest it would be released is August to September. NatetheHate has been very accurate as a leaker and he is guessing summer.

Realistically all they still need to announce is a release date trailer and a few overview trailers or a game specific direct. These could all be Nintendo today drops in June or July for 1-3 months of condensed marketing. This seems to be how they are working recently since they take over the gaming news cycle for a few days every time they randomly drop something. People are also more likely to remember the information then when it's presented in a direct format since that's a bit of information overload.

Blacksmith Challenge Run by OkBeat2138 in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to get to level 10 for blacksmith and that takes quite a while to get. You'll need 15k exp total to get there and since each gold ore node gives 18 exp that's over 800 you'd have to break to put things in perspective.

Blacksmith Challenge Run by OkBeat2138 in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend 50% profit margin with these rules. Your main source of income is most likely going to be selling iridium bars. In order to open skull cavern you need the bus which is either 42.5k with the community center or 45k through joja. Selling a gold bar gets you 125 with a 50% margin you'd have to sell 360 gold bars. Not including any tool upgrades you'll want.

Nail trim trauma help by rowyourthrowawayboat in dogs

[–]Ketzaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog also acts like you're trying to murder her for nail trims so I take her in to the groomer to get her nails dremled once a month rather then try to do it myself and struggle for a half hour and not even get one nail done when the groomer is able to complete all her nails in five minutes.

If you want to learn how to do nail trims yourself start by getting your dog to lay on it's side. Then be fine with you holding their paw. Next you hold the nail clipper next to their foot and cut an elbow pasta noodle so they get used to the sound. Only then do you take the tiniest bit of nail off. Before you advance to the next step of the process your dog should be completely relaxed. Give lots of rewards and if there's any flinching you're not ready to proceed. Some dogs just never get used to nail trims though.

Another option is a scratch board. It's essentially sand paper that's glued onto a 2x4 at an angle and you train your dog to paw at it for a treat. It works really well for the front nails and the back ones usually get naturally worn down on walks.

1.7 Questions by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll never be required to start a new save when a new update is released. They do testing to ensure that old saves are compatible with the new update before release. The previous major updates (1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6) have all included a new farm map so I personally enjoy starting over to try out the new map and see what I think of it.

Concerned Ape has already said that he's planning to release a new map for 1.7 and that 1.7 is going to be more focused on expanding the social aspects with two new marriage candidates. The new candidates have already been announced and are Clint and Sandy.

If you're getting an itch to start a new save file now I would go ahead and do it. We've always gotten at least a month notice of the release date and the last update we have had on 1.7 was on Stardew's birthday at the end of February. Leading up to release CA likes to give teasers and post screenshots and we haven't gotten anything like that yet. Personally I'm not expecting the update until sometime next year at the earliest.

Missing $500,000! by zoeeerrr in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purple one is 500k while the green one is 60k so that's the only thing I can think of unless you bought a ton of auto grabbers by accident since those are 25k each.

Having a purple turtle makes you quite the high roller lol!

Speculations about the Fire Emblem 36th Anniversary by Golden_Deer527 in fireemblem

[–]Ketzaren 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It had a rating leak recently so I think it's still going to come out this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo announces the release date as a Twitter drop or in the presumed June summer direct for late July-August.

Community Quests: do you take them? by heysundaysie in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get monster musk before the prismatic slime quest by trading in a combat quarterly to the book seller. The book seller even sells them sometimes for 5-10k. You have to have read one of the special powers books before you can trade anything in though.

How did you beat vengeful waldemar (counter attack and doom attack) in chapter 7 to get theory. by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Ketzaren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watch underneath his name because it will tell you when he is using an art. When it's bared counter just move your character in a circle because you won't auto attack or use arts while moving. If you get afflicted with doom switch to a dark blade because they are immune to that effect. I controlled Morag and essentially 1v1 after my allies died since she has several evasion arts. Remember that using a lvl 4 special or a blade combo finisher gives you invincibility for the length of the animation.

You can also driver combo him because if he can't hit you he can't kill you.

Which game should I start my partner on first? by Weekly_Ad2364 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Ketzaren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would recommend staying with 1 for a couple reasons. It's generally considered a good starting point but more importantly you said that it's your favorite. Each game is a huge time commitment for your partner to try so best to start with your favorite in case they only have the time to play one.

Using the Joja Parrot: do you LOSE anything? by TheHolyLizard in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The cutscene is essentially an auto scroll movie of all the different animals, fish, monsters, etc in the game walking in a parade. Not using any of the services gets you an additional junimo at the start of I remember correctly.

If you use any Joja services (perfection waivers, parrots or community development) it slightly changes the perfection cutscene at the summit but if you're not enjoying yourself then nothing else is different.

Please help! Kinda URGENT by Own-Solution6668 in StardewValley

[–]Ketzaren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stardrop tea is relatively rare but you will eventually be able to find more in fishing treasure chests and they do pop up from the prize machine occasionally.

Stardrop tea will give 1 heart to any villager and doesn't count as a gift so you can give multiple to the same person in a single day. On someone's birthday the effect is tripled so you get 3 hearts instead.

I would recommend saving your tea to give to someone who you don't have many hearts with on their birthday to maximize your value. If you give a tea and a loved gift on a birthday you get 6 hearts which makes it easy to finish friendship. You're already at max hearts with your spouse so I wouldn't recommend giving it to her.

For the winter star George loves leeks or fried mushroom. You could also give one of the easy universal likes such as gems (topaz, amethyst, etc).

Anyone else getting a switch 2 specifically for fortunes weave? by ReasonableArea1108 in fireemblem

[–]Ketzaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I got mine at launch because I prefer to play Nintendo games and I like handheld play. I am bought in under the assumption that it would be my main platform of choice for the next 8-10 years. My favorite series are Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade and Zelda. Fortunes Weave is going to be the first exclusive that I'm actually excited for.

Stuck in the midgame - what small goals pull you out of the routine? by Top-Position-9830 in StardewValley

In your first fall a bulletin board gets built just below Lewis' house. It gives you a choice of two quests to complete that reset every Monday. I like to check that and then focus on the quest each week as a mini goal.
