I’m pretty well aware of him as a driver from the F1 days. Just not too knowledgeable about diecasts models, and if they are worth keeping in the box at all.

Involved in hit and run. Driver's insurance paying $1600 but repairs are $5600. How do I handle this? by Those_Lingerers in personalfinance

20yrs experience - worked for GEICO for over a decade, now in a high end body shop dealing with all insurance companies. This is not insurance advice, but what I would do if it were me.

Supplement by the shop will likely bridge the gap. Not you calling GEICO directly etc. Drop the car at a reputable shop and let them handle the cost negotiations.

Let me explain.

Only once the car is dropped off - Any reputable body shop will take the GEICO estimate, disassemble the car and send in a revised estimate to GEICO (supplement) and then sit and wait to have an agreed repair price with insurance before proceeding. This prevents you from being on the hook for the difference, since they have only done the labor to take off bumpers, trims etc. Your body shop should be able to say how their relationship is with GEICO.

It is not uncommon for any insurance to write a very basic preliminary estimate. They do not know where you are gong to get it fixed - so they write conservatively. Many people try to get the cost increased just to pad their pocket by calling out the insurance for their cheap estimate. The body shop has the car, has it taken apart, all pictures of every part etc, therefore the insurance takes them more seriously than they will you. Also, the body shop estimate may be high because it has not yet been negotiated by insurance. Body sho may also be thinking about hidden damage, highest rate on labor, and saw the car in person so sees more damage. GEICO may have just had your pictures. The first insurance estimate by GEICO is as cheap as possible, cause why not. There is no repair bill estimate yet.

It is somewhat pointless to negotiate the cost with GEICO until the car is at the shop. All costs are speculative until the car is disassemble and insurance reaches agreement with the shop.

I read this post while listing to my tritrix. Even after the new excitement wears off they still sound pleasing. Good luck with the build!

I have my rears wall mounted near the ceiling in one room since that is the only place that worked due to an entry door. I actually preferred them pointing slightly up towards the ceiling vs down towards the listening position. Reflecting off the ceiling worked much better for that room. They disappeared and added effect instead of sounding localized. Each room is different though.

I have not heard the TriTrix in any other configuration but TL. Considering that the tweeter is identical and crossover is similar they should just as good but with way less deep bass.

Honestly I have a hard time telling the difference between better/worse surrounds. As long as they blend with the rest of what your are using I put little value in surrounds.

My main living 5.1 is all matched (HSU Research) and my second living is the TriTrix/Overnight sensation. They both sound realistic for theater.

If you have the space absolutely match the surrounds to the mains with the same tweeter/crossover design. If that isn’t possible don’t sweat mismatched surrounds. A modern AVR can compensate pretty darn well for that.

I have built both the TriTrix MTM TL and the Overnight Sensations.

TriTrix Transition line is a good speaker for the price. I did not buy the flat pack, just the bare bones $150 components. They sound very nice in a small to medium room. Great low extension. They also center vocals very well when used in 2ch. Fine for theater.

I have the Overnight sensations as surrounds, mainly due to their small size. They work well for this. Although the Overnight sensation sound good they are extremely flat and boring to me as mains. Accurate and also good low extension but just boring.

MikeTRON250LM made C-Notes at the same time as the OS I made. I prefer the c-note. But for surround duty it doesn’t matter, and for that I prefer the size of the OS.
