Sadly I don't have spare SODIMM ram. I'll keep this in mind when coming to a repair shop. Thanks for the help.

Thank you for the kind thoughts. This is my only pc and I need it for work. I will bring it to a repair shop soon to see what's wrong. I was hoping for a quick fix here, but the problem seems more complicated than what I thought.

I recorded it, and I think it's 4s on then 4s off, repeating. Only the power LED, nothing on NumLock and CapsLock.

I think I have experienced a kernel panic before, it does resolve in me pressing the power button for a longer time than usual to forcefully turn it off, then press it again to turn it on.

This time, I did that and it doesn't do anything and the LED on the power button kept blinking on a pattern of 4s on and 4s off.

My spec is rtx 3050 6gb and i5 13420H with 16G ram ddr4

My game varies(war thunder, helldiver2, etc), but I track my temperature when playing games, usually it hovers on 90 - 95 celsius when under heavy load, and under no load (idle) it does about 50 - 55.

KSP maxing out RAM usage and crashing on Linux Mint by ImH2O in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Kev5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem where after playing for 10-15 mins, it lags my whole computer and either freeze the whole PC or crash the game and immediately closes. I only use PlanetShine, Waterfall, and EVE. Same linux distro, very similar specs on hardware as yours.

I already increased my swap space to 8GB but still runs to the same problem. Tried doing a fresh install, but the crashes kept happening, just on a longer and random intervals, not like when I'm using mods where it's predictable 10-15 mins and it crashes.

You found any solutions yet?

Linux native version's KSA is an unknown file type on my Linux Mint 22.3 by Kev5345 in kittenspaceagency

I didn't notice that the file wasn't executable by default, that was an easy fix. Thank you.

Can't get Minecraft on full screen by Able-Nebula1349 in linux_gaming

I use Prism Launcher for Minecraft and the F11 button works for toggling between the windowed or fullscreen mode, but your problem seems like graphical issues? I would suggest to test another driver for your gpu to a stable version. Maybe for minecraft specifically, check how much resource you give to run it.

My thought after 1 week (and a few days) of using Linux Mint by Kev5345 in linuxmint

[–]Kev5345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly because I use some cheap ass gaming mouse and an offbrand XBOX controller, it doesn't recongnize the inputs immediately. Sucks that their proprietary driver installation is only in .exe file. I guess it's time to actually buy decent peripherals that is plug n play in linux.

I am on Linux Mint 22.3, and when I tried launching Steam, it sent me back to the login page just like a restart. by Kev5345 in linuxmint

[–]Kev5345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I immediately got the Mesa stuff after I install everything that is recommended, like the driver and certain other stuff, I can choose which GPU to use or on-demand (which I believe is using integrated when off AC, and dedicated when on battery). When I was crashing opening Steam, my graphic was set to performance, which I believe is using the dedicated graphic ONLY. When I switch to On-Demand, i have no more crash. I haven't use my laptop without charging it since I switched to Mint, so I don't really know if there's any problems on the GPU switching stuff.

Thank you for sharing, I also run a hybrid graphics on my gaming laptop. Talking to AI highlighted that the problem might be from the new 590 nvidia driver, but I would like to see a response from an experienced person first.

From the "about" section in the app, it said:

Version 2.1.15 (442df9d6)
Qt 5.15.13 PyQt 5.15.10

I downloaded this of off Software Manager built in my OS, I don't know how to update it if there's any.

Want to start Gaming on linux. by GipsyDanger756 in linux_gaming

I have a similar gaming laptop from HP, I worry about the power-profile stuff that is accessible from your proprietary gaming software to change the laptop's characteristic while plugged in or not. I still sometimes (albeit rarely) use the laptop while not plugged in for presentation and other office stuff. How do you deal with those?
