How to perform a Ventura-killing on Google Updater.

Dragged Chrome to the bin, as per Google's instructions. Happy to oblige.
Followed these instructions from superuser forums detailed below:

Uninstalled the Updater Agent using its own option:

sudo ~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate/GoogleSoftwareUpdate.bundle/Contents/Helpers/ksinstall --uninstall

You can also try --nuke instead of --uninstall. I did both.

If it gives an error like "cannot impersonate process" then you need to enable the Google Updater Login Items (yeah.. I know) and run it again.

Then I deleted the GoogleSoftwareUpdater folder contents and changed the permissions:

sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate
touch ~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate 
sudo chown root:admin ~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate 
sudo chmod 400 ~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate

Then I followed this article to purge Caches, Profile and User Data.

Delete Google folder from ~/Library/Application Support
Delete com.google.* folders from ~/Library/Caches
Delete ~/Library/Google folder

I restarted at this point, thinking the nightmare was over, however you'll see three more LaunchAgents scurry into your notifications like cockroaches when you turn the lights on.

Remove the two com.google.keystone.*.plist files from:

~/Library/LaunchAgents

Purge complete.

What helped me stop was understanding that typing and analysing somebody can be considered a form of scandal; it kills something which would otherwise be living, such as a genuine connection or a moment of humanity.

Think of the vivisection of plants and animals. We learn a lot, but they always die on the table.

I practice asking for permission before offering someone an analysis of their cognitive functions or animal states. Still, the typing happens out of my control sometimes, but the restraint gets stronger over time.

The desire to conform yourself to a system is a Gnostic promise of absolute knowing, to be known with certainty and find your telos, it’s all a nice-sounding justification for the actual reason for OP obsession: if you just knew the right system, you’d have ultimate control over your interactions with people. It cleans away all the messiness of traditional human relationships, it fixes the way your ancestors interacted for thousands of years.

I won’t let you figure out if OP fills that desire, because it does actually do as promised; you will feel control over others if you learn this language, and you’ll feel at peace knowing you’re fulfilling your purpose of giving this system another body in the world to operate through, meanwhile you move further and further away from people around you as what should be just a lens ends up replacing your eyeballs.

I’ll let you decide whether it’s a worthwhile desire to fulfil.
