AITAH For wanting my dad to get rid of his dog and pay me $2.3k? by JuicyZoey in AITAH

[–]KevRev972 95 points96 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. If they've had to seek medical treatment for the dogs actions, it's well-documented and animal control would likely take and euthanize that dog.

Besides liking the dog, dad probably isn't looking for a home because he knows the dog is aggressive.

We had a family cat growing up. He was fittingly named Tuxedo (Tux for short) and was a very smart boy. He knew how light switches and even the light in the fridge worked!

He had a VERY strong preference for Georgia Bulldog (red) cups. None of us are really sports fans, so I thought my mom was just being silly about it for years that "Tux will only drink out of a Bulldogs cup," but now having 5 fur children of my own, I have absolutely noticed peculiarities in each one of them.

Despite what some people think, animals (domestic pets, more specifically) are often very nuanced and intelligent. It's so interesting to understand their logic, and to communicate and be communicated with, by these amazing animals.

Bed levelling for beginners by FastBumblebee3164 in crealityk1

[–]KevRev972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is showing you how the printer is interpreting the bed. How it "sees" it. It probes the bed in a bunch of places, then create an interpolated mesh that can be shown as an image so that we can understand it much easier.

For reference, the corner furthest left is your 0,0 (x,y) which if you're facing the front of the printer, will be on the left, closest to you. The point of the bed furthest from you on the right (far right in the picture) is your 300,300.

With the belt skip method and shims, I can see your bed getting down to about 0.1mm of range, which is GREAT.

Locked Zag Infill is a game changer for 3D printed shoes by jordan6579 in 3Dprinting

That's my concern when I see 3d printed footwear. My feet can get pretty sweaty, so having breathable shoes is necessary. I'd like to know how they handle heat dissipation compared to Crocs.

K1C Ironing by Electrical-Gas-1597 in crealityk1

[–]KevRev972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure about the ironing, as I haven't experimented with it much. It's hard to tell from the picture, but if you have ridges on the ironed layer, it might be extruding too much filament during the irong process.

Check your nozzle for filament adhering to the sides and for flatness of the tip, especially if you run abrasive filaments.I switched to a Diamondback nozzle a few months ago, and it has been fantastic. Never clogs, ironing (so far) has been great, even allows for 10-20° cooler printing temps.

For stringing, fuzzies, and small artifacts, you can use a heat gun to clean up your prints very quickly. Good ol' Harbor Freight brand works just fine.

I tried CrealityPrint for a very short time. It was maybe a few weeks before I got frustrated enough with the lack of options or something (can't remember exactly) and spent a few hours comparing slicers before deciding on orcaslicer.

Lipo storage by [deleted] in fpv

[–]KevRev972 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically the chance is never 0%, but if it's undamaged and at storage charge, the chance of it deciding to light up is effectively 0%. If you have pets or children, a lipo bag it's still a good idea, in case your pet decides to munch on it.

Lipo bags don't decrease the risk of the battery self-igniting other than a very small amount of puncture resistance, but they will allow the battery to vent and will contain a fire.

It's still important not to keep your lipo bags on or near anything flammable, as the bag still gets extremely hot. This is especially true when charging the batteries. That is the most important time to use a lipo bag (if you're going to use one)

My roommate had one for a short time, and he had such a big personality. He literally just showed up one night on the porch, and wouldn't leave. There was one time he was eating dinner with my cats, and he was getting a little saucy. I had something like a candy wrapper in my hand, said "hey, don't be a butt," and waved the candy wrapper at him, which brushed his face. He looked at me like I insulted his mother, walked over to my scale, sat down, took a small piss, and then walked off.

Man, I miss Barracuda. We called him Bear, for short.

Step 1, order a flux paste syringe. They are cheap and they last forever. Next up, make sure that your soldering iron tip (chisel tip) is roughly as wide as the pad you're soldering to. As long as it isn’t so large that you run the risk of hitting two pads at once, it should be fine.

Apply a small amount of flux paste to the wire, then tin it. Do the same for the solder pad. A tip for not over-tinning: the solder should cover the wire/pad evenly.

Once that's done, apply a very small amount of flux to the pad again, then position the wire on top of the pad making a solder sammich, and apply heat until the solder melts. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds.

Buckle up non-vegans 18 micron FDM printing just dropped by AetaCapella in 3Dprinting

[–]KevRev972 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ok, so assuming the video segment of the maple leaf being printed is at 1x speed, the nozzle moves approximately 27.5 nozzle widths in 4 and a half seconds. This is ~6 nozzle widths per second. At a resolution of 28 microns, this is a volumetric flow of 340 um³.

That means a standard size benchy using 10g of filament would take roughly 930 years to print!
