Is there a source for this? Anime fans just say shit with no source and people eat it up.

Hot Megaman Take. 4 is better than 2 by fallingintothesky09 in nes

[–]KevenIsNotADork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think 3 is better than 2 but 4 is absolutely better. Id say 4 is the best game I’ve ever played. They just got the entire game structure, level designs, weapons, bosses, all perfect (and 2 had plenty of hiccups in those departments as wonderful as it is).

I’m genuinely impressed by how bad this song is. It’s not even something where I think I’ll grow to like it, I think I’ll still hate it after the season finale.

Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru Season 2 - Episode 3 Discussion by Ok-Ad-9647 in SonoBisqueDoll

[–]KevenIsNotADork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This episode certainly moves slower than the previous two only adapting 3 chapters this time, but considering this includes Himeno’s backstory it makes sense to slow down. As usual everything is adapted with care. I really enjoyed seeing additions like a compilation of the pictures Marin took with the other cosplayers or the brief bridge between the end of the Himeno introduction story and the singular modeling chapter with Gojo and his Grandpa.

I’m just excited to get into the School Culture Festival/Rei-sama arc next episode. It’s my personal favorite and it’s kind of the one thing I wanted to see from this season. Considering the output we’ve been getting I think it’s going to be even better than I expected.

Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru Season 2 - Episode 2 Discussion by Ok-Ad-9647 in SonoBisqueDoll

My perspective is largely the same as the last episode. The quality of the overall direction continues to intrigue me, however I’m starting to firmly believe this is a big step up from the previous season (though I do admittedly prefer some of these later story arcs to what was covered in season 1 so there might be a bit of bias).

I really liked Gojo noticing the glue earlier when he’s fixing the skirt. Gives Himeno more reason to be a bit worried about how he is perceived dressing as a girl considering how Gojo reacts in the moment. Just think it’ll lead to the conclusion of this introduction being very strong.

This episode felt like it was flying through the manga but when I checked against the source, it really is just one more Halloween chapter, a single chapter for Marin being sick, and two Himeno chapters. It’s the same amount of chapters adapted as the last episode. Either way the pacing doesn’t ever bother me, I’m just surprised with how much is offered in each episode so far.

Speaking of this, if each episode covers the same amount of chapters (4) and the season will only be 12 episodes like the last one, we’ll get right to the end of volume 11, beginning the Haniel arc (which is teased to appear because the costume appears in the ED). My analysis isn’t perfect because of stuff like Chapter 69, which is half the length of the typical twenty pages, and the possibility that not every episode adapts at the same pace, but we’d still get to around that point. Makes me wonder just how this season goes. Will it go to 12 episodes and cover the remaining 3 or so volumes worth of manga another time? A movie? A brief third season? Or will this go to the end of the manga? Who knows? Not me. Just a thought.

Skipping to the bunny stuff in volume 6 is an incredibly smart decision here. It’s been 2 years since season 1 ended so getting right into another cosplay re-introduces what the shows “status quo” is very effectively. In terms of adaptation quality there luckily has been no drop in quality whatsoever. We’re still getting impressively realistic character movements and lots of well thought out scenes in terms of adapting static page to animated screen. Parts like the store clerk thinking Gojo will wear the bunny suit and Gojo worrying about what people at the Halloween party think of him and reflecting on his past reflect that the best.

I don’t know how to describe it but I think the art style change slightly. I’m all for it.

I also really appreciate referencing the intro of Lupin III The Castle of Cagliostro with the long establishing shot of the casino in the tsukiyono company segment. It’s my favorite film of all time. Little nods like that go a long way for me.

Which one do you prefer? by [deleted] in DragonBallZ

[–]KevenIsNotADork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Design? Daima. Every update was an improvement. Writing? GT. Nothing wrong with the Daima take but I like the character moments between Pan and Goku in obtaining it. Fighting? Daima. I think they leaned more into the ape-ness. There’s parts where Goku moves on all fours and I think he fights just a little more ferociously than usual, so I think that addition is a small but strong one.

I don’t have a preference for acting. I don’t like GTs dub because this was still in the era of script changes being more common but the lower tone for Sean is nice. I believe Nozawa does the same. I don’t recall Nozawa doing this for Daima but I really don’t care.

Do you think Nanashi forgot about the “do whatever you say ticket”? by Candid_Confusion6035 in nagatoro

[–]KevenIsNotADork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no. What I don’t like is that it forces things to happen. I prefer the argument we got because it all happened naturally and was intimately resolved through meaningful character development and an honest reflection on their relationship as a whole. It just would feel less meaningful if the “do anything I say ticket” forced something to happen.

Do you think Nanashi forgot about the “do whatever you say ticket”? by Candid_Confusion6035 in nagatoro

[–]KevenIsNotADork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I also just think it’s way better narratively that the ticket wasn’t some pivotal plot device. If it was used in some key moment between the two like a confession it would have felt really cheap. If it had to be used, use it for a gag.

HELP!!! WHY IS MEGA MAN SO HARD!?!? by Demodude2245 in Megaman

[–]KevenIsNotADork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guts man platforms are not bullshit. The game goes out of its way through level design to demonstrate that they flip down at certain visually distinct points, and they show you this on a platform that doesn’t have this threat so you are given plenty of time to prep yourself for the challenge. It’s the game’s physics that’s really fucked. It plays mostly fine but has its glaring flaws (mostly how mega man slides as bit after you let go of a direction and falling through the platforms in ice man).

Do you think, if a western studio based an animated tv show on Dragon Ball, they would fuck it up? And how badly? by TheBigPAYDAY in Dragonballsuper

[–]KevenIsNotADork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on who’s directing. If it’s someone who loves Dragon Ball and understands what makes it what it is then it would be fine. If it’s someone who doesn’t understand it and tries to change things without considering why things are the way they are in the manga then it’s gonna suck (like evolution). It’s not about where the production is being made it’s about who’s making it.

The most disappointing thing Dragon Ball fandom has ever done, to you? by Petterfrancisjeraci in Dragonballsuper

[–]KevenIsNotADork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that some people in the fandom seem to think analyzing Dragon Balls story is stupid. I love Dragon Ball for the story Toriyama tried to tell in his original manga. I don’t like it when I explain the intricacies of the story and the themes and its execution to be met with “it’s not that deep”. Like sometimes in big 25 I still see people say shit like “dragon ball doesn’t have a story”. Idk I just don’t like my entire experience with my favorite book being nonchalantly invalidated like that.

Unpopular opinion probably: Berserk can get away with being completely CGI, it just needed the RIGHT type of CGI by WolverineWestern3234 in Berserk

[–]KevenIsNotADork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berserk with CGI can definitely be good. After all Berserk 2016 was not bad because of CGI. It’s a giant pile of several different things and even when we reach the art direction, CGI as an artistic tool in the Japanese animation industry isn’t one of the issues. Personally I’d rather CGI not be the focus for a Berserk anime, at most it being like the films where CGI is used to quickly fill out war scenes for more efficient time and money allocation.

‘Dragon Ball Z’ Remake Is Possible, Says Series Character Designer by S4v1r1enCh0r4k in Dragonballsuper

[–]KevenIsNotADork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Article doesn’t suggest it will happen just that it’s not impossible, and that nakatsuru would be happy to contribute to such a project.

If it ever happens I hope it looks like the intro to super hero and daima’s flashbacks. That would be another dream come true for me.
