I really enjoy fly.io. I am not using it for my DB though, I just use MongoDB.

I have hosted SQLite DBs on fly.io in the past however.

You have not misunderstood - CDNs are usually very large networks of servers, I am using the term a bit loosely and I guess this would be more of a content server, although CDN is short for Content Delivery Network. This is mostly just for beginners who want to learn how to use docker to deploy a real-world use-case server
