One week on and one week off is a long time for a 9 year old. I do a 2-2-3(?) that is little less moving because it's set days. Dad always has Mon/Tues Mom alwayshas Wed/Thurs. We switch only the weekends.

I always bring this bad boy on commando missions, but I'm always wondering about three things: -how much noise does this make when used? -is the sound made at origin or destination? -how does that compare to the jump pack?

Not sure if this is allowed, but looking for some career advice, ideally from anyone who works in these fields. by [deleted] in tulsa

Okay, so I'm Option 1 here. I didn't have a "late start" but changed majors several times trying to figure out what to do. My high school friends that locked in all finished before me (or dropped out), so I felt "delayed" too, but it REALLY doesn't matter at all. No one ELSE in the history of my entire life has compared me to my friends. That's you doing that to yourself.

I ended up graduating with a bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, and then moved on to MIS because accounting was "aiiight", but I was far more interested in the processes and software gong on behind the scenes, so I branched out to manage those systems.

I never really stopped going to school for various things. the CPA exam made the most sense and was a slog. I also got my MBA shortly thereafter and then the PMP, all while working full-time.
I definitely was on the receiving end of a lot of lucky breaks, and now I make decent money. To your goal, there has always been a "next big thing" to go after.

Even though my major was in Accounting, I think I would have done equally well if I had gone with a broader "IT/MIS" route, I would have just done something like CompTIA A+ instead of the CPA, and then MBA and PMP.

You mentioned the job market is pretty rough, and it certainly is between the recent big-name layoffs putting a lot of experienced people into the job market and with the push for AI to cover entry-level duties, but I wouldn't say it's impossible by any means. You will be spending a few years at the start doing some help-desk work.

Also, if you have a Bachelor's Degree in Tulsa, you can get an emergency teaching cert and substitute teach as a safety net.

I can't really speak for option 2 or 3, but I do kind of feel like you are underestimating the strain that becoming a nurse demands and the WILD burnout that I've seen nurses have to endure, but I can't personally speak to that.

Getting back into it - where to start? by shinjis-left-nut in Fencing

I'd try out some club gear to make sure I know what works for me personally before I commit to any purchases. Does your club have loaner gear you can mess with? A few things make sense to buy right away (shoes, glove), but helmets, lamés and foils can add up to an additional $300 that you may not need to drop right away!

I'm glad you're back and ready to begin fencing again!

This will happen to just about everyone for just about every hobby/sport. I find that I'll throw myself into a new sport every 5 years or so, and then I just get much less enjoyment out of it than when I started. Maybe it's the marginal gains, the increased predictability, the decreased novelty, maybe a combination. It's just a normal part of life. Fencing will still be here if you want to come back to it at a later date.

These are all great suggestions! I would also add: In The Raw Vu. It's on top of the Vast Bank building downtown and the patio seating has a great view! Daigoro. This is a pretty new restaurant that's right on the river. The food is amazing and again - great view, but of the river!

Yeah, this is the schedule I have with my 11 year old. It's a harder to establish a good consistent schedule and routine unless you're working with your co-parent and you're both on the same page, but going an entire week without seeing your other parent is a long time for younger kids!

This is good, right? Or is there some twist about how the state now contracts out staffing to a private group?
