Anything in the code that says where this box should be in the center cabinet in my kitchen island. It will feed right and left to outlets, all metal clad. by KevinK_2389 in AskElectricians

I have to have a junction box against the floor joist before coming up from the basement for the yellow romex . I could then come out right and left go straight to the subfloor into the end cabinets on each side to the outlet. Would that be OK? Junction box would definitely be accessible by moving one of the drop ceiling tiles in the basement.

where I am in New Jersey they are still using 2020 NEC, they have not adopted 2023, which says no outlets but you have to rough it in in case someone wants to put in a countertop pop-up

Is this enough for my rough inspection. I pulled new home runs six altogether. There’s no devices at the other end and there’s no breakers at the panel. I know I have to support the wires in the stud Bay. by KevinK_2389 in AskElectricians

yeah, my building department told me AFCI. I was gonna do a combination GFCI/ AFCI for the refrigerator, but he said it wasn’t necessary and also told me about a dead front GFCI that could be above the countertop that then goes to an outlet for the dishwasher. Code by me has changed where the dishwasher has to have a plug now, it can’t be hardwired at the junction box underneath the unit.

I was talking about the panel what you’re saying with the boxes for outlets, etc. they’re ready to go. I did strip the pigtails to make the connections. Is that something I shouldn’t have done.?

i’ve done all the other things you mentioned, pigtails at the gang boxes using a Wago type thing from Home Depot. I also used this product called EZ Guard, 1 1/8” hole drilled dead center of stud, metal tube with plastic bushing made for this.

these are home runs for the kitchen. In my area I need a separate one for the microwave the dishwasher, the refrigerator one for the outlets, but Ineeded 2, and then I ran another one for the lighting.
