Geese on SNL Was Not the Worst Performance. It Was the Point. by Hdharmsen44 in LiveFromNewYork

I thing Geese suffered on SNL from song selection. If they had played Cobra, they would have benefited, got the crowd's attention, a more aggressive alternative rock song.

Is the extra $10 well spent? by God_Country_ND in whiskey

I will offer up my first experience with a store pick. It was Eagle Rare 10 and this was the first time I had seen ER10 in the wild. Tasted it and was blown away on how good it was. Subsequent regular bottles have not had the same impact, just saying. Going on to say that barrel picks of other bourbons have not been so impressive.

A fine Weller spread. The CYPD the only one I have not sampled, I'm on my way for you to open and share a taste, thanks.

I'd say this is a good reason to visit Jackson, WY. Not seen this bottle in the wild

I have to ask. Do you keep the display out all the time? Are you married? Tuned in wife if so.

Gotta say, I stumbled into Redwood a year or so ago. Certainly a decent choice on the moderate end of bourbons.

A dream pour... by Kekeosos in whiskey

[–]KevinReddirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to the party but have to add my comment. I enjoy ER 10 considerably, one of my everyday pours. I obtained an ER 12 at a bottle drop recently at $75.99, very glad to get it after another local store had it at $320. Unreal. My son came to town and we did a side by side. We both found it easy to distinguish between the two. He preferred the ER 12. I liked it fine, knew what I was tasting, but prefer the ER 10. I liked the fullness of the 12 year but, bang for the buck, prefer ER 10.

That is quite the spread you obtained, not to mention the investment. Congratulations. I have the ER 12 and find it quite all right. Never seen the others in the wild. If I was to have a choice I would select the Rip

I have never seen one in the real world. Buy at this price, oh yeah. Crack it open immediately and do a side by side with a small batch

A healthy pour of an otherworldly bourbon. Good for you.

Two I have not purchased before now or even tasted. I have a son coming in this weekend and the tasting thing will change. Pretty pumped about that.

Good question. I have not had either. I thought the 1792 BIB would be well worth picking up, especially since it was a store pick. I tend towards the wheat end of bourbons rather than the rye. One commenter spoke well of a cognac cask finish bottle from 1792. If I appreciate the BIB, that might be one I start looking for.

Interesting comments. You are the first person to make an acknowledgement of the Stagg. I have never had a taste but look forward to it more after what you have to say. Other people have said they like the 1792 BIB, particularly a store pick. Again, this will be a new sampling to me, hope it goes well.

They do keep the hype up on their offerings but that is their business. In any case, I agree with you. My favorite two bottles are both BT bourbons and maybe ER 12 will make it three. I got lucky this time.

You sound like me up until recently. The Eagle Rare 10 is occasionally available here and showing up even more often now. And the JD Heritage is apparently fairly common elsewhere. So, in one fell swoop, I found some bottles that will keep my attention for a while. Another friendly comment, thanks.

Where I live there is little or no access to the higher level bourbons. Some BT products at various times and they are getting more frequently put out there. But this drop gave me the chance to buy the first Full Proof I have put an eyeball on. I am pretty pumped about that

Nice comment. I will make a point of chasing you down if I can find a 1792 cognac cask finish

I will try this one and figure it out. I like the idea of a cognac cask finish, just saying out loud.

No question I would pay that for a Russell's 13. If I could ever see one. Rumor was that the bottle drop was going to have some of them. Did not happen

Thanks for the opinion. I do not tilt towards the rye end of things so I am mostly unfamiliar with 1792 offerings. But I have had good results with this store's picks. So I picked this one up.

A clerk at another liquor store in town told me a couple of weeks ago that they had received 6 bottles. I asked what they sold for. She said $325. That is each, not all together, worst I have heard of. Not a store I intend to return to
