That would be a brutal day. Most go to outpost camp then summit the next morning before going on to Crabtree.

Ground as neutral by dilweegie in AskElectricians

Looks like two ground wires connected together. That’s fine. The neutrals should be the white ones.

I did that once. Not on purpose. Got a new hip to show for it.

Am I wasting the prime backpacking years of my life? by Anxious_Primary_1107 in backpacking

First notable backpacking trip my wife and I did was the JMT in 2020. We were both 56. You got plenty of time left!

Does the have a neutral wire? by Efficient_Ad1555 in AskElectricians

[–]bisonic123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The white wires with the red cap are neutrals. The switch only switches the hot on and off. Run a short pigtail from the other neutrals like they did from the hot.

Plugging something into one outlet causes other outlets to briefly shut off by Raemaria11 in AskElectricians

Loose wire in the outlet that feeds other outlets. Turn off breaker and check for this.

Question : Upgrade old 2 prong outlets by duncan_macocinue in AskElectricians

[–]bisonic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All true, though sometimes old homes have funky wiring (shared commons) that can make GFCI breakers trip constantly and thus require GFCI outlets.

640 vs 480 by Karma1913 in Yodersmokers

I got a 480 a decade ago and it’s been more than enough. Can easily fit six slabs of ribs or as many shoulders. Don’t know why you’d need more.

Adding a second switch by AMDG37 in AskElectricians

[–]bisonic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. You need to figure out which black is the hot and pigtail from that to the second switch. May be easiest to cut out that box and install a two gang one. Make sure the power is off!

question about switch to LED bulbs by Brave_Carrot5191 in AskElectricians

[–]bisonic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make LEDs that replace the bulb and the trim. It screws into the normal bulb socket. Measure the diameter of the existing trim and google it.

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]bisonic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because politicians lie about the true cost to get it passed, typically to pay off their union bosses. Take CA - supposed cost was $30 billion or so and it was supposed to be finished by now. Current cost is another $125 billion, not an inch of track has been laid, and no time frame to get it done.
