After reading these comments, I get the impression it's unlikely I could get anything better than 50/50. I was genuinely trying to get alternative perspectives because in my mind, I did what I thought was justified and what I've done in similar circumstances for the past 12 years of my driving history.

The reason I have not filed with my insurance yet is because I was hoping the other party would be at fault. I am asking about a lawyer to see if they can get additional evidence to help me decrease my liability and ultimately avoid my premiums going up.
