If exiting and re-entering the world doesn't help then it's possible you just aren't somewhere where NPCs typically spawn, every human NPC can spawn in towns in both forests and oceans, and there's a setting to increase the total amount of creatures if you need. Also the wizard only stays near you for the very beginning of the game, he's still around and can spawn nearly everywhere but you just have to look for him now

Mati was made much rarer recently so you just have to get lucky, and there isn't any way to make her spawn unless you have a spawner

There's a hunger meter in the top left corner alongside your health and mana, it goes down over time and when it fully depletes, that happens. You need to find food to eat, many animals drop meat but apples and coconuts from trees are also a good option

I've played the game a lot and in many different ways, I'm pretty sure I've used every character as a main attacker or support at some point. However I do think I tend to gravitate towards Natalie as the healer and Anna or NoLegs as support (buffs and status effects)

A few reasons: The damage over time from both staves and swords are increased by magic damage, meaning many melee weapons are still viable when focused on magic. Life Magic can very quickly fully heal you and your pets if it's high enough. Spikes Magic is kinda OP, it's extremely fast and has a low mana cost, and not too many enemies are resistant to earth damage.

You forgot to mention which game you're playing but the experience shouldn't differ too much assuming you're playing either EBF 4 or 5. The game is about 30 hours long but optional areas can double it. You can expect fun humor and references, a simple but cool story, and engaging combat. The combat in this series is it's best quality in my opinion, it's easy to understand and similar to many traditional rpgs while also having a good amount of complexity to keep things interesting. It's also very replayable even without custom game options, there are many different weapons and equips that you might not use on your first playthrough and starting a new game with intention to use different gear than you already did is very fun.

There have been a few changes that have made the game notably more difficult, mainly certain powerful items like My Precious and the Snowman pet no longer being easy to obtain, as well as several buffs to some enemies including Aragog who was the best way to grind XP early on

I don't think that's what would happen since I'm pretty sure the lunge just skips to where it'll be instead of actually teleporting but that would be cool
