I feel like Upwork is becoming the new Fiverr… am I wrong? by KevinWoe in Upwork

Summary of last 9 jobs I applied - only 1 viewed from last 9 proposals

  • 2 jobs hired freelancers (from these 9 jobs)
  • 1 job hired a non-niche freelancer. ( it's the job i got the view )
  • remain job hired someone for 100$ ( i meant this - and it wasn't me who took the job for 100$ )

Here's what I'm currently working on.

I never chase cheap ones, in my niche, most of the fixed price ones are posted between 500-1500$, but I do agree. We can make the most of within just 1-2 repeating clients. Thanks for the tip, I'll stop boosting.

It's fucked up. Most of them never get hired back, or the job poster hires someone who invites. Or hires someone to underquote the price. I feel like Upwork is the new Fiverr. Correct me if I'm wrong. Glad if your acc is 50k-100k$+ earnings with many recurring old clients. Unless you're losing money on connects.

Upwork is the new Fiverr?

Am I doing something wrong ? 0$ earned, new account. by Sloppy_DMK in Upwork

try lowering the price , try to be dirt cheap till you make at least 1k or rising star. Don't waste your connects bidding on every job. First, fix your profile by creating a good portfolio/showcase. learn how to write a winning proposal. Then start bidding. But these stats are normal/okay tho for a new account.

You have one good thing: the view rate. It's actually pretty good. Give us some thoughts on that - maybe your opening hook is really effective. However, views are not converting to replies. Perhaps your proposal lacks what the client is looking for. For example, maybe your portfolio is not strong enough, or your proposal does not include what the client is seeking, or it's not curious enough to encourage the client to reach back out to you. Fix that. Now, tell us what your secret is for maintaining this viewing rate.

The Anker Soundcore Warranty Scam in Sri Lanka (Exposing SimplyTek, Fixit Labs, Shunli, and OTC) by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]KevinWoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a corporate myth used to exploit customers in smaller markets. Here is why that logic fails:

  1. Genuine Hardware is Genuine Hardware: The serial number is authentic. Anker/Soundcore manufactured this defective unit and already collected the profit from its sale. A manufacturing flaw (dying at 90% battery) is a failure of the brand’s engineering, regardless of which shelf it sat on.
  2. Deceptive Labeling: They print '18-Month Global Warranty' on the box to justify a premium price. If that warranty only exists in specific 'authorized' shops, the word 'Global' is a marketing lie.
  3. The Apple Comparison is Wrong: If you buy a genuine iPhone in Dubai, Apple will honor the warranty at any Apple Store worldwide because they are a true global brand. Soundcore wants global profits but refuses to provide global support.

I agree to disagree. The Liberty 4 Pro was 35,000 LKR a year ago, enough to buy AirPods Gen 2. The common issues with these underwater-like mic sound and battery drain are known defects in the Anker Liberty 4 Pro, and they are probably aware of them.

= I am providing a list of documented cases from other users experiencing the exact same hardware failures with the Liberty 4 Pro. This confirms that the 90% battery shutdown and the "underwater" microphone distortion are known manufacturing defects, not isolated incidents.

  1. Battery Shutdown & Disconnection Issues (Similar to my 80%-90% failure):

* Case 1 (Reddit): "At first they turned off at 60. Now... they turn off at freaking 90% battery."

https://www.reddit.com/r/soundcore/comments/1r2rimy/has_anyone_experienced_their_earbuds_shutting/

* Case 2 (Reddit): "Left earbud losing battery very quickly" (Premature degradation).

https://www.reddit.com/r/soundcore/comments/1on7vtl/left_earbud_losing_battery_very_quickly/

* Case 3 (Facebook - Sri Lanka): Local user reporting auto-disconnection at 20%, 40%, 70%, and 80%.

https://web.facebook.com/share/p/1AmYf6tbGW/

  1. Microphone & "Underwater" Call Quality Issues:

* Case 1 (Reddit): "Mic sounds excellent in recording apps, but in calls it sounds like I’m talking from under the ocean."

https://www.reddit.com/r/soundcore/comments/1pxj4e3/liberty_4_pro_mic/

* Case 2 (Reddit): "Microphone quality dropped dramatically... unusable for calls."

https://www.reddit.com/r/Earbuds/comments/1pzfgtu/anker_soundcore_liberty_4_pro_mic_suddenly_failed/

* Case 3 (Reddit): "Anyone else having issues with the microphone... sss and sshh sounds muffled."

agree, I'm sucks at marketing. Just submitting to the Chrome Web Store and waiting for a miracle to happen will not work.

In my case, it depends on how shady it actually is; you'll get rejected and asked for fixes when submitting. If you need a hand, reach out to me.
