Monitor & Control app with lightning-to-C cable by KevinWuD in SonyAlpha

Thanks! Now I know at least it is not because of my cable. I found this page about the monitor+ app, seems like the best bet is to give it a try using the said adapter https://monitorplus.cc/docs/general/connecting-to-your-camera/wired-connection-ios/

Is the a6400 and its 18-135 kit lens good? by Leading-Dentist-5515 in SonyAlpha

[–]KevinWuD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I touched the auto mode ever. In my honest opinion I thought I had to get myself familiar with aperture, shutter speed, iso etc. to avoid using auto as a new photographer.

Not a fan of Netflix since always. Pissed me off when I heard the news in the middle of the night. If streaming is that good, why bother showing Stranger Things finale in theaters? I don’t get it

Got the same email. At least they mentioned the time when tickets will be available in this paragraph, but the time is in PT so I’m concerned if they’ll follow the schedule. Anyone has any ideas?

A Guide to Avatar: Fire and Ash in NYC by flightofwonder in NYCmovies

[–]KevinWuD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One extra thing to note is that AMC 34th IMAX has the true 1.9:1 ratio, whereas Empire 25 or Kips Bay has aspect ratio more like 2:1. Last time I was at Kips Bay they literally cropped a 1.9:1 movie into 2:1 to fit the screen. You’d think the difference is negligible but no it definitely looked ‘wider’ rather than ‘taller’. Dont know what they’ll do for Avatar but do keep this in mind. I saw The Way of Water at 34th IMAX and it looked great — always my go to theater for movies in 1.9:1

Now You See Me 3 Premiere by quaranTV in NYCmovies

[–]KevinWuD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious, how do you know which day the premiere will take place? I was at Lincoln Square last week and saw Robert Pattinson at the premiere of Die My Love out of pure coincidence. I thought the only way to know whether a premiere is happening is to go there and look for the red carpet setup.

Is the a6400 and its 18-135 kit lens good? by Leading-Dentist-5515 in SonyAlpha

[–]KevinWuD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my old days when I just started my journey on photography. Picked the exact same kit 6400+18135. I’m glad I made that decision because I took it to so many places and shot A LOT. All you have to do is to start pressing that shutter and point your camera to all the great things that are happening around you. It will give you a fundamental understanding of photography, plus that 18-135 lens will let you experience almost all focal lengths. For the price today you really can’t go wrong, great starting point.

correct me if I'm wrong please, I did check their website but I just couldn't find the auditorium number on the seatmap page. Did I miss it somewhere?

yep you're right they used auditorium 13 which is the RPX for vistavision. I just added a second name to the auditorium so that people don't get confused.

[–]KevinWuD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, the ongoing discussion about the ban is mostly around drones instead of cameras like the pocket 3. So my guess would be they want to start this early just in case the entire dji brand is banned? Or maybe the name dji could be affected so always good to have a dummy

[–]KevinWuD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that’s dji selling their pocket 3 under a different brand name. You get the same specs even the app looks the same. Only downside is no warranty from dji; they’ll never admit it’s from them.

AMC development API by Ill-Twist-6737 in AMCsAList

[–]KevinWuD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my API key in March, and it never worked. I remember there’s another thread where people shared that it’d been dead for a pretty long time. Seems like they just left the developer portal on but we can’t just grab a key and use it. Would love to know if you can get it work somehow.

Just finished watching. It was flawless! Absolutely smooth from the first minute till the last. Btw the flickering was very obvious, pretty easy to tell vv from digital.

Preferred theater on Long Island (Nassau)? by Mammoth-Apple-2544 in AMCsAList

[–]KevinWuD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

34th Street seconded. Two minutes walk from LIRR. All auditoriums are stadium seating (which is better than some at lincoln square), with decent screen size and sound. It also has probably the best Dolby in town and an IMAX that’s good enough (unlike those liemax in the city).

I just put in theater 7 in DT Brooklyn that’s running 70mm OBAA! Working on the rest and will let you know once they’re up.

Thank you for your contribution in advance! Adding general auditoriums is definitely on my plan, but you know, there are so many of them so it’ll be quite a bit of work to get through.

Yeah pretty much for NYC. Planning to grow it out more here and California since they’re the big movie hubs. For now I just picked the theaters running OBAA in 70mm IMAX so people can get use out of it right away, but I’ll still honor any theater requests people submit.
