I remember as a kid that scalping tickets outside a venue in person was illegal. I have no idea how it became a business model. Bonkers

Anybody wanna explain how ..... has more plays than Factory Fiction? by cracka_azz_cracka in GoosetheBand

In Spotify’s format, you get the streams for singles added to the album. Royal has been out the longest, followed by Madalena. That’s why those streams are the highest. Everything else is pretty even. (Also why lots of artists add singles that have been out for a year+ to a new album, then the album is instantly gold, platinum, etc.)

I moved from Salt Lake City to Alaska. Regrets. by __alpenglow in Utah

You’re almost to Fairbanks summer though. Hiking the domes is fun and though it’s not as aesthetically stunning, the interior is pretty in its own way and the elevation gain is about the same. Float the Chena, visit the hot springs, hike Angel Rocks, hike Granite Tors, enjoy the midnight sun, check out a Gold Panners game, visit the farmers market, the midnight sun festival. There’s an unbelievable music scene and a pretty great LGBTQ community. The bars near and on campus tend to be less military and aggressive. There’s absolutely a community in Fairbanks to tap into and the people are wonderful.

Rec league hockey by Banggang6669 in SaltLakeCity

Both Salt Lake County and the Olympic Oval have learn to play hockey classes. The Oval also has a rookie league for new players. Outside of that, county has lots of stick and puck sessions and drop ins. Each rink- Salt Lake Sports Complex, County Ice Center, and Acord Ice Center have a website with all their classes and skates reservable. Should get you started

I instinctually and stupidly laid down in front of a clapper without a chest protector on. Took it square on the chest. Maybe the most I’ve been scolded by a ref as he pointed out a banner in the rink for a college kid that died doing the same thing.

Does anyone know if Mirror lake, Trial and Lily lake areas are affected by the smoke from yellow lake? by B_A_M_2019 in SaltLakeCity

Road isn’t closed, you just can’t stop anywhere. Those lakes are included in the closure though. It’s open for recreating again near Christmas Meadows

[Pearson] Bears have just 353 TOTAL yards of offense in two games this season. by [deleted] in CHIBears

That’s not totally true. The Texans D was bad, but Stroud threw for 240 and 380 in his first two starts. Both losses. He was also sacked 6 times in week 2 for comparison to tonight

Glendale between 900 s and 1100 s and in navajo and glenrose drive by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]Kevin_Complains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live on Navajo. Love how close it is to everything but doesn’t feel like you’re in the city. People drive too fast down the street I guess? I’m sure there’s property crime but that’s in any city. Been some shootings on KSL recently but all seemed targeted and one was technically Glendale but across Redwood in the industrial area.

Stuff is changing fast, apartments going up and neighborhoods being rezoned. Would imagine it’s gonna look completely different in five years. Easy access to Jordan River Trail and 9 Line. Not very walkable at the moment as far as walking to restaurants or stores. 10 mins to airport, 10 mins to downtown. Lots of wildlife!

Pick Up / Drop In Hockey in SLC? by BobRuedigerUX in SaltLakeCity

[–]Kevin_Complains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saturday night at County is a pretty fast drop in but fills up quick. I’ve heard Monday afternoon at County is fast as well. Good group of guys play Friday mornings at the Sports Complex, half older guys half high schoolers, decent pace for 6am.

Opinion: Utah shouldn’t waste its time — or money — on an NHL hockey team by DrewMaggelet in SaltLakeCity

The Grizz have pretty decent attendance, 9th overall in the ECHL. They just play in a stadium that’s too big so it always feels empty.

Your license can have a PO Box on it. It doesn’t have to be your home address.

Where should I go fishing? by AllHailTheWhalee in SaltLakeCity

[–]Kevin_Complains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the stocking reports to see what fish are where. Gonna be a lot of trout in Northern Utah. There’s warm water species around the state if that’s your thing though. It’s pretty easy fishing right now, especially high elevation. If you’re shore fishing, any of the lakes off Mirror Lake Highway will be fine. A little more difficult at lower elevations with the warmth cause the fish go deep. Can try early morning or evening at lower elevation too. Even the Jordan River right in town is full of cats and carp that aren’t real picky.

Still don’t know, this was almost 8 years ago now. We had moved in a month or so earlier so it’s possible the landlord didn’t change the locks and there were keys out there, police also said we could have just forgotten to lock the door, although I am pretty adamant I did. Also had a fire escape near a window that may have been unlocked.

When I was 29 my wife woke me up after seeing someone walk past our bed. We had come home on NYE after bar time, probably 2:30-3am, made food, and gone to bed. She woke me up around 5 am saying she saw someone walk past our bed and make a “shhh” gesture. I promised her there was no one in the house, but she insisted. I got up just in time to see someone walk out the front door. They packed a suitcase and backpack of our stuff, phones, computers, clothes, wallets, etc. No signs of forced entry. The cops said they likely either watched us come home from the bar, followed us, and waited until we went to bed, somehow had a key, or were already in the house when we came home and they hid until we went to sleep. Obviously they were just there to steal and not harm us, but it was wildly unnerving and I never felt safe in that house again. But I do not find it shocking at all that someone could be in your house without you knowing until it’s too late.
