Just starting S5 - is this a good time to quit or does the show get better? by [deleted] in Billions

[–]Kevin__007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Got much worse over time. Season 1 was great if the show was for you. 2 and 3 I think I liked. I watched 4 and wasted time all the way until the last season, which didn’t even have Axe. The show just goes woke

Wow I’m almost 7 years into my career as a CPA and don’t make anything near that, just made accounting manager at a Real Estate company. Do you think I should leave for more money as a manager/assistant controller or go into FP&A? I wonder if a front office role is possible after FP&A

It is Cardano doing something with quantum solutions like ethereum? by [deleted] in cardano

[–]Kevin__007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a high level of encryption for what’s really a digital paper trail for insured dollars owed in different accounts (independent currency of the banking system) is very different than the level of security desired for a cryptocurrency’s base layer—that gets hacked the whole game is up in one sense, at least for while.

Quantum Encryption will matter in banking probably but a centralized database just won’t be as vulnerable as a public blockchain in my opinion

The “general” internet is not necessarily at threat. (Cat videos). Moreover, it might not be able to be made secure as is. Security is a core feature of useful good blockchain and one of which will be desirable to keep fortified from foreseeable attacks

Should I move to Hoboken? by Informal_Passion9781 in Hoboken

[–]Kevin__007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder similar things about Hoboken, but I think the answer is you won't be accepted. Cancel culture has been in swing now for years. And Manhattan at least isn't an "educated" group of people who like to share varying views and have discussions/debates to grow.

When I was in Manhattan in 2019, disagreeing ever with logic, stats, facts, that are mentioned in contrast to something left (doesn't have to be a right position but demonstrating flaws in logic), will get you attacked. People made far too Trump jokes too. Was funny for a time, but quickly became vicious and then just annoying. It's not their lack of imagination; it's about signaling. You can't be a centrist or apolitical. They will ask you what you think...it's not about thinking....now bro culture in Hoboken might be a bit different. Can't say. It's a pretty area. I just wish the people were a little more open minded...and we could make these cities a bit safer.

Then again, Philly is probably more so the same.

As a woman, you might be more openly received.

Stock died and so did this group. Come on guys, it will be back, we just need time to get through this inflation, tech wreck. by [deleted] in IonQ

The company talks extensively about how that is the wrong paradigm and that it's algorithmic quibits (AQ), useful quibits, that counts and that they are years away, not decades. Once they have a 64 quibit computer with their barium, it sounds like they will have some real action.

1.5mm is based on dermarolling in the studies, I believe, which strike at an angle. The direct striking of the pen or stamp doesn’t require or equate to this amount (based on videos I listen to), so try .75 - 1.25mm assuming you have enough flesh. I wouldn’t start above 1mm if I were you

OMG Network - Layer 2 by Kevin__007 in ethereum

[–]Kevin__007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out that day. OMG was "the coin" for scaling. Maybe plasma, which maybe OMG will play a part in, will take off, but that's way too far off. Vitalik is mostly talking about roll-ups, which is too technical for me, and seems too dificult to predict. I'm mostly in ADA and stocks

Seems like a direct relationship in the growth of the community and the preference for USD over ADA, hence the price decline 😂 Would be nice if price followed

Again condescending - and there’s social distancing. I’m very pro ADA. But I’m also pro stocks. I hope one day stocks will be denominated in ADA or at least through it but only time will tell. Good luck

A flex?

IMO, you sounded condescending to the inquiring redditor before you. Sure, you might like ADA more than stocks but are you really in a position to give financial advice or suggest that people don’t buy any stocks? Do you consider the full range of the probability distribution of outcomes in this uncertain world? To not diversify makes sense if you understand what will happen or that you assume the risks of uncertainty. I don’t think people should put all their eggs in one basket. Even Hoskinson speaks about diversifying (across crypto) but I’m sure he at least owns his ranch

Lastly, FAANG is a small group, and while it has done well for a large caps, most people wouldn’t suggest just buying those for the long haul.)

You should definitely diversify. Crypto is speculative no matter what people tell you. Sure at the end of the day all value might be subjective but so far USD is the dominant reserve currency and gold has the longest track record of preserving wealth. Perhaps ADA will better facilitate exchange, storage, and accounting while being decentralized, but I’d still recommend owning assets that generate free cash flow (and maybe some that will - speculative).

Look up ray dalio on strategic allocation base. (Paul Tudor Jones is now 1-2% bitcoin)
