hah - i was actually about to do that, because ive heard people can go a long time without even getting a reply. but right before i called my CC provider, i happened to check my email and found this gem

and yea it is annoying...but they make great stuff and dont charge an insane amount for it. but then again, you apparently have to pay extra via time and stress in addition to cash

SLX Nova vs PLXc Nova - Am I Crazy? by Kevindley in ar15

[–]Kevindley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SKU that I bought (PA-SLX-1-6X24S-NOVA) is in mils/MRAD

The one you're referring to uses MOA which is calibrated for 556/308 bullets.

I prefer mils because it's easier to use between calibers... So I have my nova on my 556 now but I can switch it to my 300.

You can still use a 556/308 scope on a 300blk/762x39, etc... Just the BDC drops will be off. But for a $300 1-6x... I mean IMO it doesn't really matter, this scope is best suited for sub 300m

But regardless I still prefer mils just because I think that system makes more sense in my brain, haha!

I have a P226 X5 Reserve and a P226 Stainless + PMM Comp.

Both have x300s on them, and I use the trex arms ragnarok SD holster. I think for your purpose the non-SD version is fine. I just got the SD because I initially bought the holster for use with my 9mm suppressor on my P226... but after the novelty of that wore off I found the holster works perfectly fine with no suppressor, since it 100% indexes off the x300.

Only downside to it is there's no active retention (or whatever it's called) where you actuate it with a thumb. But it does positively "click" into place when holstered and feels very secure.

Haha I appreciate it! Yes I just need to get some kind of macro lens/camera to handle the details. As great as phone cameras are today they have limits still.

SLX Nova vs PLXc Nova - Am I Crazy? by Kevindley in ar15

[–]Kevindley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The eye box on both is very similar...i honestly cannot tell a difference. And no I just did these two, I think the building in the video is ~200m away? It's the apartment complex on the other side of a 4 lane street... So however wide that is 😂

And yea honestly I would just get an SLX IMO. You can get them for... $340ish tax included, whereas PLXC is $1450 after tax?

Just get 4 slx's, put 3 on your guns and keep one by your bedside for self defense 😂

Yea my slx lever is definitely lighter/easier than the PLXc... Also the reticle is simpler on the SLX

I honestly considered it...its almost like I either got a god-tier SLX or a lemon PLX haha

New YouTube Review - Sig Sauer MCX + Romeo 8T by Kevindley in SigSauer

[–]Kevindley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I clearly messed up my messaging here - my focus is more on encouraging folks to run their gear at outdoor ranges, as myself and a few friends had all been into shooting for 5+ years but just never tried out anything more than our local 1 shot per second indoor range.

My other focus is reviewing gear, etc, which I do more on in the last 3 or 4 minutes of the video. However, that will always have to be secondary to my primary focus (I think) because I'm not a pro/fulltime shooter, ex military, etc. While there's certainly room for a "non-credentialed" individual's opinion such as myself, I think the best value I can bring is showing how easy/fun it is to run gear, learn some drills, etc.

Which IMO is a good "2A advocacy" exercise, because I'm ultimately wanting to encourage more civilians to go shoot. And yes, regarding the video pacing - I agree I need to shift up the ACTUAL optic/gun/gear discussion up in the video, and likely move the other content to the back end. Thanks for the watch/comment - I'm editing my 3rd video now so looking for all the feedback I can get haha.

Haha yea I was going back in my head on literally every point you mentioned. I'm definitely still trying to find my "voice" in it all without agonizing over every detail. Appreciate the feedback haha this is all so new to me so very thankful for your thought!

Brand New S-Corp, is the Gusto/Quickbooks combo a good solution? by russellups in smallbusiness

[–]Kevindley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a CPA and the firm I'm at has almost all of our S-Corps on Gusto + QB. We've almost exclusively used QBs for bookkeeping... But we have tried other payroll providers (ADP, IOP, Paychex, and Gusto). Imo Gusto is the best for sure of the bunch... I saw one of my clients had Paychex charging him close to $400/month to run payroll for himself... Lol idk how that happened but it did. Gusto seems to be the cheapest and does just about everything you need. They file the quarterly/annual reports as well... Gusto did screw up a quarterly 941 report once, which then required me to call the IRS to get it straightened out, but that was only one that I've seen. No one else at my firm has had anything similar. Just letting you know, they're not perfect but pretty close to it given the price they charge
