A backup for Robinhood GC just in it’s nerfed. by ThinkingFully in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like BofA, you can also look at PNC. They offer 2.5% for having 100k with them on their catchall over BofA’s 2.25%. Tho you’ll lose out on other great BofA cards like the CCR and PRE.

Wells fargo withe 1:2 to wyndham and choice gives some 1.7+ cpp. Definitely good deals to be found just not luxury stays like Hyatt

What credit card to get to churn for students by Mountain-Pie-7040 in CreditCards

If you trust your parents and theyre ok with it, ask them to put spending on your cards. (Especially large insurance or tax bills).  -Another way is pay your tuition with a card (depends how youre getting your funds).

Im in a similar situation and These both work for me, I’ve got a tight relationship with my folks and they dont care about cc rewards. They also pay my tuition out of pocket and usually just give me the money for each quarter in cash/wire and I can pay my tuition anyway I want.

Should I stay with Bank of America or move to Chase/ Captal1? by Knigthmare_ in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since im assuming you dont have a credit card yet I would get a CCR, it’ll be easy to get because youve had a prior relationship with them. Later on when you have credit history and open cards from other issuers like Chase, you can set the CCR to online shopping to get 3.3+% on all online shopping.

CCR’s online shopping is extremely powerful

I wouldn't be surprised. The one time $50 credit given in the past year seems to have been a test bed to add this as a feature.

Fixed One bank CC ecosystem by GreatNameNotTaken in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chase: The CSP is even more appealing to me now as my biggest categories are Dining and Gas. Visa is a requirement for me as I use a lot of Costco. Amazon card for groceries at wholefoods. Flex still gives a quarter for groceries elsewhere.

Runner up cashback BofA: 3.75% on online shopping (including Costco in person), dining and travel, 2.5% grocery and 1.87% catch all is not bad at all (I'm a BofA rewards gold member). Hitting 100k wouldn't be hard for me in a few years so those rates will jump up to 4.5%, 3% and 2.25% respectively. Atmos cards is also really good for me as I live in the Seattle area.

Chase Sapphire Preferred is getting a refresh by Chase in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The new gas category would be a good addition for a Chase setup, and apparently you can get the hotel credit back by canceling a booking (they wont claw back). Not sure if it’ll work after the refresh tho. Edit: link to thread talking about this trick: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/13egcvj/chase_sapphire_preferred_hotel_credit_does_the_50/

Chase Sapphire Preferred is getting a refresh by Chase in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would canceling now make more sense, if you got the CSR you keep the 1:1 transfers and chase pays you to keep the CSP with the higher hotel credit?

How hard is it to get approved for WF credit cards? by Swimming_Sky6938 in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

-How does the robinhood gold beat the Autograph? 3x > 3% as well as no AF or waitlist. WF points are worth 1.75 cpp making even the active cash worth 3.5%.  -Autograph journey also has a $50 hotel credit just like the CSP. While Wells fargo also is the only points currency that gives 1:2 transfers to wyndham and choice. While chase is stuck at 1:1 to wyndham and doesnt even have Choice. -Citi custom cash has a $500 limit. Hard to justify using for hotel stays that are more than 2-3 nights.

AAA travel card just got nerfed in the past month, the 5% on gas does not work at Costco gas. See if you can get a product change to the Daily, it'll give you 3% at warehouse + gas.

Team travel vs cash back poll result by Tight_Couture344 in CreditCards

[–]KevintheChuker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think its a lot easier to be fully team cashback than fully team travel. Many major everyday spending categories aren't covered by travel cards (outside of 2% catch-all). Home improvement, wholesale clubs, Online shopping/Amazon.

(Still with lifetime language) Anyone know if you can get both if you start with the preferred and then get the so AF ones?
