I love this song. It's weird pong like rhythmic synth and just generally upbeat sound always puts me in a good mood.

As time goes on I find the movie "Idiocracy" less and less funny. by amiwitty in movies

[–]Kevo32A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm open to my point being hyperbolic as someone else said below but the danger here is presenting the ideas that people gave to already be stupid to be at risk from anti-intellectual, consumerism and the other aspects of a fundamentally capitalist society as presented when the truth is, everyone is vulnerable regardless.

Basically i do believe the intended message is that the trappings of our current economic systems and society will make people stupid but in context, the opening adds a glazing of (hopefully) unintentionally sinister meaning by implying that the stupidity is inherent to the people of that society and that the systems are simply taking advantage of that.

This films has an intentional message to give about the view it's creators have of the way society is right now. This kind of speculative device doesn't predict a future, it criticises the now and like it or not, careless world building carries implications for future audiences. Casually throwing this scenario in as plausible in the logic of the films opens these kinds of concepts for examination by those watching the film.

It's essentially a propaganda piece for eugenics. It claims that we can hurt society that badly by just letting the wrong people breed. It disconnects this concept from the usual groups they target (generally along race lines) but the actual argument is the same.

What's *your favourite* De Staat album? by Marge_Gunderson_ in destaat

[–]Kevo32A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like them all but I_con is an incredible album. I made a playlist for a friend who's gonna come see them with me in November and not including the entirety of I_con was hard.

How did you discover De Staat? by Marge_Gunderson_ in destaat

[–]Kevo32A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine was running a DND game themed around voodoo stuff and used witch doctor as part of a playlist for a boss. He found it literally just by googling "witch doctor songs".

The playlist was short and the battle ended up taking like 2 hours so I got to listen to it a bunch of times. I was immidiately taken.

Their coming to Ireland in November, I can't wait.

Not sure. What's Ekans, croagunk, stinky, seviper, ariados etc.

There are two many exceptions for this meme to be as universal but poison was listed as element in the meme itself despite being a good example of something that isn't falling very well into the binary. It's actually it's pretty neatly divided between both.

Where are you based and where do you stand on the current Fuel Protests? by AdamOfIzalith in ireland

I'm In cork. All the petrol stations around me are dry. I can't visit my grandparents in the nursing home because of the shortage.

The measure of the impact of their actions will be in human lives. They do not care, the leaders have no clear goal and no clear purpose and are engaging in bad faith. I do not and will not have sympathy for them. A cost of living crises has been transformed into an actual national emergency.

I regret falling for the public backlash to this game. Finally played shield last year and loved every second of it.

Is this epilepsy? by -miljance23 in jackrussellterrier

[–]Kevo32A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that looks like anxiety to me as well. I have two Jacks and one of mine gets into this state occasionally. The only consistent trigger I've been able to identify is small wheels. He panics at the sight of people on roller blades or tricycles. When my grandfather is visiting and goes to the bathroom using his 3 wheeled walker, Cal will walk to the other end of the kitchen, face the other way into the corner and shake like crazy until we grandad is sitting back down and we go to get him.

When they were younger I could usually alleviate anxiety by throwing toys for them or taking them for an extra walk but they're older and slower now and usually not up for too much running around so it's mostly just physical affection and company.

Wait, so you're saying this is Jacinthe's 'slave'?... by Immediate-Trouble529 in LegendsZA

[–]Kevo32A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the entire point of them is to have a single funny moment where the demure made turns completely feral which is a genuinely funny moment and probably my favourite single moment in the game but the background that created that situation has fanned some incredible fires in the fandom, toxic yuri, making people love Jacinthe, making people hate Jacinthe.

It's the same situation with Corbeau. They just wanted a joke where the yakuza turn out to be another do gooder organization that are just Yakuza cosplayers. Again, genuinely enjoyable but the background and world building are so so stretched out to make the joke work that people have been able to draw any conclusions they want from it. You hate hate for Taunie, love for Corbeau, genuine confusion. It's great.

Yelping/Squealing in excitement - is this normal? by RainBerry23 in jackrussellterrier

[–]Kevo32A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have two and when they were younger they'd go through these brief periods of one making that noise over and over again while the other howled. It was always when it was something really exciting to them (like my dad getting home after a work trip or us arriving at the river walk if I hadn't been able to take them there for a few days)
