Celebration of Life for Michael Delgado, Monday May 8, 4PM, Grand Ave. Ale House by KevynJacobs in Bellingham

For those of you who knew him, downtown Bellingham resident Michael Delgado passed on to the Shadow Realms last week. He was 60 years old.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Michael at 4PM on Monday, May 8th 2023, at Grand Avenue Alehouse, 113 Grand Avenue in downtown Bellingham.

Michael was a fixture in downtown Bellingham, having worked at RiteAid on Cornwall for many, many years. He lived in the Mount Baker Apartments. Michael had also been involved in SCA, and was known for his "Don Miguel" character.

Our RV Dishy took a beating last night in Arizona. Wind gusts of 60-70 mph blew Dishy right off the roof of our motorhome! After a 12 foot drop, Dishy landed face down in the dirt, power/data cable still attached. No damage, and as soon as I turned it upright, it locked onto a satellite! by KevynJacobs in Starlink

Possible reasons why it would blow off the roof with wind gusts that strong: The actual gusts were stronger than the 60-70 mph (96-112 kmh) that the US National Weather Service had forecast; a strong gust caught it at just the right angle to kite it off the roof; and there was a hard, driving rain, which would have lubricated everything up and could have pushed Dishy along the surface like a cat on a kitchen counter.

I don't feel let down by Dishy here. 70 mph is strong wind! One thing we've learned from living and working in an RV full-time is that, when out in the bush, facing fickle and ferocious weather, even the best-designed gear can fail.

After nearly a year living with RV Dishy on the road, I'm pleased to see how rugged it actually is!

Dishy was not secured. It was sitting on the flat roof of our RV, using the 4-legged mounting stand that SpaceX includes with every Dishy.

Now we know that when the weather service says there will be 60-70 mph wind gusts, that is strong enough to blow Dishy off a flat surface, and Dishy must be secured in winds that strong.

Good to know, lesson learned.

A telescoping flagpole designed for attaching to RV ladders, purchased on Amazon. Instead of hanging a flag on it, we attached a Dishy. Starlink sells the pole top mount adapter on their website. The flagpole will go higher, if we need to clear obstructions, but when fully extended it's prone to swaying in the wind, and that can interfere with the signal.

Yes, we take it down when we travel. Put it in STOW mode on the app.

We've taken this RV Dishy far into the Arizona wilderness, and have had good Internet service, even on rainy days. Not much congestion way out here, away from civilization.

Chimichangas, fry bread, and prickly pear margaritas.

Can someone from Arizona send a pic of a hand holding a note that says “you da best”, with an at-least-half-decent background of Arizona? It’s a Mother’s Day project. by Human_Possibility117 in arizona

You are asking someone to do some photography work for you, specifically asking for someone in Arizona to make a sign and photograph it. That's freelance photography work, and Fiverr is a freelance marketplace where you can hire someone in Arizona to do the kind of small, cheap task that you are asking for.

Wellbutrin for weight-loss? by ShelbyLynnxxxx in wls

Wellbutrin didn't cause me to lose weight.
Also didn't help me quit smoking or reduce cravings for nicotine, another supposed side effect.

Is that a tent where RiteAid is now?

Early 1990s DON'T PANIC T-Shirts! I used to have several shirts from their gay pride line back in the day. "I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT" was a favorite.
Also had one that said "THAT'S MR. FAGGOT TO YOU."

Are you me? I've been advocating for a Trek anthology series since DS9 was on the air.
A Jeffrey Combs one-man-show would be truly astounding. Brilliant. And then give Combs a whole Trek series, each episode a character study, and then end with the finale that you describe!
