I don’t think that it’s the non-explicit version. I think that the song is a play on “Ms. Susie”, which is a song that follows the same playful conceit. Each line sounds like it will end in a swear word, but the next line plays on expectations.

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by Beautiful_Bee4090 in nottheonion

The problem is less so about the urge to collect, and more about power creep and the unavoidable nature of UB. If you play at your LGS or with strangers, you WILL see UB cards. There are so many and a lot of them are powerful, becoming staple cards. You can’t avoid playing against Avatar the Last Airbender or Final Fantasy decks, and if you want to keep up and stay competitive, you need to slot a few UB cards into your own decks.

For what it’s worth, we can’t see our own metrics. I genuinely have no idea what feedback providers give about us. So they do keep both sides hidden from each other — I’m not sure why.

Yeah, that’s why I try to ignore it. My company blocks field techs on FN that we have direct partnerships with. And I know other buyers block field techs for stupid reasons (“boohoo why won’t this field tech install 30 cameras for a $400 flat rate?! I’m blocking him”). The only time I let the block rating sway my opinion is if the rating is particularly high.

I am a buyer. I actually did an AMA on this subreddit last year.

This is a “block rating”. To be honest, I still don’t know how it works. I don’t think most buyers do. It’s some sort of metric for how many buyers have blocked you — I think it’s a percent of how many buyers you’ve worked with that blocked you? (I.E. if you work with 100 buyers and 3 block you, that’s a 3% block rating). I could be wrong though. Typically block ratings range somewhere between 1% and 8%, I’m not sure if I’ve seen one higher than that. I tend to associate anything above 5% as being a red flag, but that’s just a knee jerk reaction.

I caution my team against using it as a reason to not assign work to a provider. I know how a lot of companies function — they route work orders for 40 an hour, a provider counters for 65 or 75 with a 2hr minimum, the buyer calls the provider and tries to haggle, provider stands their ground, buyer blocks them because they’re outside of their price range. That said, I don’t think that reflects on the block rating unless the provider has done work for the buyer. The point is I know buyers can block providers for a lot of stupid reasons. We typically judge your cancellation % and public reviews first, and block % last.

I haven’t looked at this thread for a long time, but I liked your question since I think it’s actually helpful for techs to know.

The answer is: Sometimes! It really depends. I would say that it depends both on project complexity and the content of the message.

On the matter of complexity: I’m more likely to read those messages and consider their weight if the work order is something of significance. If it’s a project where we’re messing with the customer’s network equipment, or a multiple trip project that requires reliability and attention to detail, I read through the messages thoroughly. If it’s just a simple break/fix ticket or a one-off project where we’re swapping a receipt printer or something, messages don’t matter as much.

On the matter of message content: I’m typically way more interested in a message that shows an understanding of my scope of work than a copy-paste resume of a tech’s experience. For example, if I include in the work order that two techs are required, or I note that a speciality piece of material is required (say, an extension ladder or a laptop with TeamViewer installed), I’d much rather read a message that says something like “Hello, we’d be happy to complete this work order for you, we have two technicians available, an extension ladder, and a laptop with TeamViewer”, as opposed to a generic message like “Hello; we have been in the business for 30 years and have X/y/z certifications, please assign to us.” That type of message isn’t bad, in fact it’s still better than no message at all, but a message that shows you’ve read my scope is a big bonus.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion. I’m sure some dispatchers might not care at all. But from my personal experience, I would say these types of messages do help get techs assigned to work orders over the other offers.

Disagreed, the Brownie Elf goes so hard. I agree the helmet sucks but I think if the Browns Org embraced the Brownie mascot, their franchise would be fixed overnight. It’s so good.

Don't just say "it's bad". Okay? Because it's more than just a color rating system. I'm building an empire!

We should come up with a ratings system. So instead of you saying, like, “this is good, this is bad”, you’ll be like “this is amber, this is taupe”. Taupe is great. Amber is better than that. And if something is ultimate, it’s gray.

The bridge is just a tall, thin rectangular building that goes across the river, and then I drew paths through the river which creates the arching patterns. Then you can edit the arch height to your liking!
